So, I was at the movie theater a week ago and saw the poster for it. "3D" and I thought maybe it was just a remake.

But I saw the first trailer for it just now, seems to be a different set of people, a "new" story.

One of the images showed a guy sitting down accidentally on the pool suction. And then screaming... so is a guy going to be anally disemboweled in this one?

How many of these Final Destinations are we going to get? Is it going to be a Saw type thing?

I've never seen one of the Final Destinations. This would be number 4 or 5? I had some friends in J.H/H.School rave about the movies, but I could never get my self to rent one to see what was up . . .

From what I understand, there are no accidents. Just Death making people die in freaky ways. I've seen this clip, I thought the suction was turned up, and he was dragged down as we swam over.

There is another part with a female going through a auto-car cleaner, sun roof opens..and I guess the car starts to fill up with water. She opts to attempt to climb through the sun roof to stay alive (but I assume gets her head ripped off)?
Unless there is more to it, kicking out a car window isn't that hard >.>

I think I will skip out on this one as well.

And why all the 3D movies these days? Are there some theaters now with a better ability to show a movie, in 3D?
It seems every other movie I rent not comes with 3D glasses, but the picture is never that great and after 5min I change it to "normal".

3-D can be done really well, or really poorly. When done well it's really cool. When done poorly it sucks. I saw Coraline in 3-D and thought it was really good at the theatres. When I got the DVD and tried it at home, it did not work AT ALL. It was really disappointing.

I'm sad to hear that. I really wanted to see Coraline in theaters but for whatever reason I kept putting it off until I missed my chance. Hopefully it will be good experience even without the 3D but it sucks to think I missed out.

As for Final Destination it's fun for me seeing all the ways they come up with to kill people and then analyze just how improbable it is. They're not kidding when they say TV Tropes will ruin your life.

For now 3d is just a gimmick, and will likely remain so for at least another decade.

Only large large companies can afford to produce 3D films.Filming live action 3D requires the use of special cameras, which smaller film studios cannot afford. Computer animation is much easier to transform into 3D format, but CG alone is already an expensive endeavor.

This creates a lack of avant-garde films pioneering new techniques in 3D films. There is also pressure to add in 3D as a bonus feature rather than a core element of the film because 3D doesn't translate well to the home market.

Wow, you've got an awesome writing style.! I really dig the narrator's back story, humor, sarcasm, and the plethora of pop culture references. Altogether a refreshingly different RotR journal (not that I don't like the more traditional ones, mind you).

I saw number 2 on TV a few years back. This one looks slightly better but still lame. If the ways of dieing weren't so freaky and off the wall they would actually be believable and might be a bit scary.

Saw the trailer a couple times before various movies. I keep thinking, "Why do they keep making more of these?"

The inference I got was he gets trapped underwater by an overpowered pool pump and drowns. That seems to be a feature of this series: someone getting trapped improbably and having to sit there and scream as their death slowly approaches.

Reminds me of Dr. Evil: "All right guard, begin the unnecessarily slow-moving dipping mechanism." :)

According to Wikipedia, #4.

Yes. The technology took a (relatively) recent jump forward which made it easier to view (unlike the old-timey red-and-blue headache-inducing glasses). Also:

QFT. It's unfortunate, but every recent 3-D movie I know of, excepting "Coraline," use 3-D for "gotcha!" moments. Coraline used it to accent the movie, not as a gimmick; it was intended to be 3-D from the start.
