"Europe".

They showed 7 or 8 episodes of it here and then decided to stop showing it.
It's for the better considering the horror that is German dubs, but still just goes to show that Germany is incredibly uncool.

Nice! I'm intrested in who the new Doctor is and how his personality changes the series.

I remember the first time I saw Star treck, the next generation dubbed into german over there in Marburg. I fell out of my chair laughing so hard at some of the voices they picked. it was hilarious in a really bad way.

Er, I hate to burst your bubble, but that's not with the new Doctor. It's one of the holiday specials they're filming to serve as filler for 2009. The new kid won't take over until 2010.

Edit: I was slightly off; it's the Christmas special from last year. Reminds me I haven't watched "Planet of the Dead" yet, though.

In Australia we got the first of the specials about a month ago. I liked it a lot. Two great sets of aliens, one in the best of high tech modes, and one in the best of B-grade "humans in an over-all" mode. My partner was most upset that the sidekick for the special wouldn't be hanging around as a new Companion.

I'm going to miss this Doctor immensely. But given that they've chosen two out of two splendid Doctors for the modern series, I'm hopeful they've chosen another highly charismatic corker. Hope is buoyed since the crowning achievement of the series is not the acting, although it's been great by all the core cast, but the writing. For someone who knows the old series, the new series writing is a masterpiece of adult reflectiveness on coping emotionally with the strange and ordinary difficulties that reality dishes out.

It's like Germans are the only folks too ******* stupid to read subtitles. Smiley: mad

Some of the newer dubs are okay, but they butchered so many series it isn't funny anymore. And they KEEP sending old episodes of some shows with the old, horrible dubs.

Especially when compared to the very few, but so much better, English anime dubs.

But I think the German Spongebob voice actor is brilliant. Better than the original (though the others aren't really) but I've seen him live in theatre and he's just a brilliant actor overall, with an amazing voice. Though some of his older dubs aren't that good either.

You should try the French channels, their dubbing is truly memorable. Especially Schwarzenegger movies are hilarious because of it.

It definitely isn't just the Germans.

Ha! We have a French TV channel here. French soaps are funny. Even more so with German dubs, I guess.

I remeber when I went to Paris. The hotel tv had 5 channels, one of which was hardcore pornography.
