Not Minotaur, Maryanne's a Maenad. A mad woman who has given herself up to the worship of Dionysus, (god of wine) and gained frenzied super-powers in return.

Wikipedia wrote:
In Greek mythology, maenads were the female followers of Dionysus, ... Their name literally translates as "raving ones". Often the maenads were portrayed as inspired by him into a state of ecstatic frenzy, through a combination of dancing and drunken intoxication.[1] In this state, they would lose all self control, begin shouting excitedly, engage in uncontrolled sexual behavior, and ritualistically hunt down and tear animals (and sometimes men and children) to pieces, devouring the raw flesh. During these rites, the maenads would dress in fawn skins and carry a thyrsus, a long stick wrapped in ivy or vine leaves and tipped by a cluster of leaves, weave ivy-wreaths around their heads, and often handle or wear snakes.[2]

... They strike rocks with the thyrsus, and water gushes forth. They lower the thyrsus to the earth, and a spring of wine bubbles up. If they want milk, they scratch up the ground with their fingers and draw up the milky fluid. Honey trickles down from the thyrsus made of the wood of the ivy, they gird themselves with snakes and give suck to fawns and wolf cubs as if they were infants at the breast. Fire does not burn them. No weapon of iron can wound them, and the snakes harmlessly lick up the sweat from their heated cheeks. Fierce bulls fall to the ground, victims to numberless, tearing female hands, and sturdy trees are torn up by the roots with their combined efforts.”[3]

I thought the chick from BSG was the Maenad & the new waitress/shapeshifter had turned into the Minitaur and attacked Sookie?

But i could be wrong.

I'm shooting blind since this has deviated so far from the books that I only have the vaguest idea what is going on, but I'm guessing Marianne is the one who attacked Sookie because she's pretty systematically trying to eliminate or nullify anyone who has either hurt Tara or who might interfere with whatever her plans are for Tara, which is why the first victim was the fraudulent voodoo exorcist. I also suspect that the waitress/shifter is Marianne's minion and is seducing Sam on Marianne's behest, possibly to keep him from interfering with Tara as well.

That last scene with Marianne dressing like Sookie's Gran was pretty damn creepy.

I don't remember this from last week. I may have fallen asleep within the last 10 minutes.. I did that the last time, too. Now I have to go On-Demand it and "fast forward" to the end. So annoying.

I very much enjoyed this week's episode.

Except for Jason's fight scene. That was Lulz.

Yeah, okay, Eric is starting to grow on me. Not the face, which still isn't my type, but this:

"He's your maker, isn't be?"
"Don't use words you don't understand."
"You have a lot of love for him."
"Don't use words I don't understand."

That was absolutely perfect.

I bet Anna *********** furiously to Erich's sex scene this week.

I liked Godrich's last scene, it was touching.

I was a bit surprised that after the whole "Drinking Eric's blood makes you attracted to him" bit Sookie didn't stop & think, "Hey, is this why I love Bill?" as Sookie did drink from Bill in the 2nd episode. Also, Lafayette drank from Eric so I'm wondering if "feeling" Lafayette's emotions is gonna confuse Eric a bit. Heh.

Quite possibly, considering it's certainly neither due to looks nor force of personality (or anything even vaguely resembling a personality.)

It was touched upon during the last episode.

They're skipping this coming weekend & the season finale will be a week from Sunday.

Yesterday (well, day before yesterday, I guess, it was late at night) the thread got bumped to the top of the page, supposedly by a new post made by Usagi. However, I can't see any new posts by Usagi. I assumed that Usagi's post was the one he was responding to. And perhaps it was, which means you can't see it either.

I'm pretty sure he did. I was bored tabbing back through forums and within 5-10 minutes or so, I saw the thread get bumped and Usagi's post was already invisible.

I'm loving the job they did on these two series.

Having seen what the scriptwriters and actors have done, it's clear that a one-to-one translation of the books to the screen wouldn't really have worked. Tweaking the plots to draw out some of the more extreme bits does make it all more exciting to watch.

It also means I get surprised, instead of knowing it all.

At the same time they are doing a good job of keeping the essential Sookie storyline pretty close to the original, and when they deviate, they do so in the same emotional vein, keeping her motivations, and her interactions with other characters consistent with her character in the book.

I'm guessing that when she put her hand on the Maenad's face, and light flashed as she commanded Maryanne to back off, shocking and repelling Maryanna, that was a TV version consequence of Sookie having part fairy blood

Godric was a lovely Christ-like figure. I'm enjoying having a TV series with an actively Christian main character that I respect and like. And I like that the TV series, even more than the books, takes opportunities to send messages of acceptance of different types of people. "Live and let live". "Lets all get along together". "Heck, lets go out and join families". It's great that there are both good and evil vampires, and good and evil humans, and shades of grey for both in between.

The Vampire/Human metaphor for this TV series works for any separate cultural groups. WHites/nonwhites. Christians/Atheists. Westerners/Muslims. Straights/Gays. I love it.

Apparently I haven't read far enough into the series to get to that part. Interesting. Explains a lot.

Wow.

That season finale SUCKED. That was just a crappy finale over all. The only cool parts were Scrambled Eggs (sorry, too soon?) and the very end. The rest was just super obvious and boring. I loved season 2, but it lost its charm in that last episode.

I liked the first half of the episode, especially Sam's "sacred cow".

The latter half wasn't great, but I enjoyed the stuff about Sam's past & it got me a little bit excited about the promise of Werewolves in the next season.

The stuff that happened with Jessica was a change of pace from the "goody-goody" she was becoming. I could care less about Eggs (or Ecks? WTF was his name?), but it remains to be seen if what happened to Bill at the end will be interesting at all.

Biggest gripe: Not enough Eric.
