So I have watched all of Yakitate Japan, and read 60 chapters (I believe all that is available?) of Addicted to Curry. HOLY CRAP these series make me hungry. Has anyone else seen them? Or knows of similar series? Also, has anyone ever tried some of the recipes available in them? I think making bread would be too difficult for me, but some of the curry recipes seem pretty easy and would make some nice meals for a post-college guy like me.

By the way, both series are highly recommended. Yakitate Japan is aimed more at a younger (or more general) audience, while Addicted to Curry has some violence, swearing, and nudity. Also, Yakitate Japan is a pretty long series; I think there are three seasons of it. Stick with it; the third season ends up being REALLY good.

Netflix doesn't have either. Smiley: frown

Dual parallel trouble adventures has a food subtext to it, and in the NA release they put the recipes on the liner notes. I don't think there is that many food series out there though, Iron Wok Jan is all I can think of.

Fighting Foodons! I only saw a few episodes of the 4kids dub, but wow was that awful.

Bartender was an incredibly boring series about a variety of alcoholic drinks.

Yakitate Japan was on youtube when I watched it. No idea if it still is; it's been almost two years since then. I believe that Addicted to Curry is just a manga, and it is still being released.

That's too bad! If they could make a good series about making bread, you'd think one about alcohol would be really good too :-/

Bartender is supposed to be really good as well. Mmmmmmm wine.

Creamy Mami was the first food oriented anime. Her parents owned an ice cream shop. Pita-ten is a hentai anime based off a hentai game, but it's set in a restaurant (one guy waiter and 7 or so horny waitresses.)

LOL!

I sure as hell hope that isn't a hentai! I think I know what show (hentai?) to which catwho is referring. I cannot remember the name, though, but I'm pretty sure my buddy bought a copy of it at Otakon. I don't seem to remember it being about food, though... the restaurant was sorta just the backdrop for, ah, other things.

Also, I looked up the wiki entry for Creamy Mami and it didn't sound anything like a food-based anime; seems like magical girl/idol through and through. Food and ice cream are not mentioned anywhere in the entry. I mean, I guess it's possible they describe the food in depth in the episodes, but the plot doesn't mention it? You'd think there'd be a passing mention of how each episode teaches you to make an awesome chocolate sundae or something :-P
