The Mentalist is on British TV and I was wondering, is it any good? Worth watching? So many shows have good hype and turn flat I would prefer not to waste my time.

Meh, not all that compelling. I watched the first episodes, then forgot a whole bunch so now I just don't bother anymore. I prefer "Lie to me" myself, also a new series, bit more interesting.

Long answer short: If there's nothing else on, sure. Try it. It's passable. Simon Baker is really cute, but his character is far too perfect and smart for me to believe.

Well, the protagonist is charming and the stories are vaguely interesting. Well worth checking out. It's good enough that liking it is personal taste. I like Bones b/c I like David Borneaz.
