Free comic book day - May 2nd.

Not sure how many read comics here at Alla, but I figured I'd share with everyone who does or doesn't know about Free comic book day.
From what I understand, you walk in, pick a comic and it is yours for free (I'm sure not every comic book is on the "list").

However, you need to make sure the comic store is participating. . . lol

I don't think I'm remotely interested in any of the comics they have listed as free on that site, but regardless free is free, I'll stop by my shop I guess.

Holy crap Blackest Night prequel for free? They've been building up that storyline for what feels like forever. I'd totally go for that.

... If, you know, I couldn't find it online for free anyway. Smiley: sly

My friend owns an Anime store here in upstate NY, and yesterday was crazy. They always do some sort of event or show to start it off too. This year free comic book day was stolen by an evil robot and the staff and customers had to rescue it.

Anyhow, anything that gets people to read is good.

Was a fun day.

I went to a newer comic book store, it has only been around for maybe a year or so.

For the last 2 months they already have been giving away free comics to get people to read other Graphic novels (all reprints, with custom covers all asking "What next after Watchmen?"). So Saturday they have an 8 per person limit on the comics they were giving away.

I went with my Brothers so we were able to get 1 of each (some I already had). Most of the ones they were giving away were #0s or previews for comics coming out this summer.

Other then free comics, they had 2 other cool things going on.
One was a drawing to win a sweet *** Mystique statue.

The other was the Artist for G.I Joe's new comic was there. Robert Atkins. I don't read G.I Joe, but it was neat to meet someone who is in the comic biz. He had a few portfolios for peeps to look for, and the Bro and I had a short convo with him (about how long it takes him to do one "page"). Was very cool.
I didn't feel like actually buying a comic (I already feel dumb for not. I should have bought the #1) for him to sigh, but they had these neat prints he was signing for free. So Bro and I snagged one of them.

Was an awesome day.
