Have You Ever Cried While Watching Anime?Follow

#1 Apr 11 2009 at 8:50 PM Rating: Decent
I decided to create this because I ended up watching, and marathoning, Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien (Rumbling Hearts) today, and anyone who has watched it will know what I'm talking about. I'm a guy and while romance/drama is not my usual cup of tea, I will honestly admit that this is the first time I have ever openly wept not once, but twice during the final episode of an anime (or anything).

So has anyone else shed a tear or three while watching anime?

Yes. Grave of the Fireflies. I sobbed.

And usually any time a character dies, in any series, good or bad. Magic Knight Rayearth is a tearjerker in that respect; thank you Clamp. Smiley: oyvey

I also cried a bit at the end of the horribly cheesy My Santa, but then it turned out to be a fake ending so I felt dumb for crying afterward.

I kinda felt bad, but then I thought "Well, at least he got to **** her first..."

My wife bawled near the end of Full Moon. Made me tear up by proxy. Does that count?

The children become homeless.

They find a place to camp out.

Sad tears no; over-emotional tears of joy yeah. For example, the last episode of Gurren Lagann (or second to last I can't remember) when they break out of the mind labyrinth and transform Chouginga Gurren Lagann into Tenga Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Ok, so maybe I teared up a bit when Kittan did his suicide attack on the Death Spiral Machine.

No

I don't cry over things like that (happy or sad.) Never have. Not movies, shows, books, nothing.

Several times. Grave of the Fireflies for sure, as well as FMWS and (iirc) CCS, and a few others as well (including one particularly memorable part of Season 1 of Code Geass).

This. Also End of Evangelion, and parts of Princess Mononoke and Nausicca. It should be noted, however, that I've also cried at long distance commercials, drunk driving PSAs, and the series finale of Seinfeld, so I'm not really any sort of gauge.

You never read the manga did you? Love Hina has a real ending. The anime just ignored it.

There was also the disappearance of that one guy by the misplaced freckle. I dare anyone to figure that out without direct context.

Of course I never cry, but the ending credits of Now and Then, Here and There creates a feeling of heaviness approximately located near the stomach. I consider the entire series to be the most depressing anime.

Not cried as such, several years back I watched through the six ova for Rurouni Kenshin, at the end of that I was pretty choked up. Not even sure if I was happy or sad but I felt something strong there.

That reminds me, I need to watch that whole series again. It has been years now. I can't believe it.

Edit: Yea, and FMA came to mind for me when I think of getting emotional over anime. I just cannot remember why. So I really do need to see it all over again.

Why would she leap through a fork, or did you mean "Twine" in which case why are you crying about that?

You should totally link the long distance commercials that made you cry. Smiley: nod

I've cried during anime, but often it's tied to music playing at just the right time with just the right action going on. Like most of the times that damn song would play on Trigun.

Also, it's not Anime exactly, but I've cried while watching particularly heartwarming moments in some western cartoons, like the ending of the Christmas special on Static Shock.
#24 Apr 25 2009 at 8:10 PM Rating: Decent
I teared up on the later parts of the Trigun series when things got serious and sad. Also at the end of Full Metal Alchemist. Al and Ed's relationship reminded me of the relationship my brother and I used to have.....was touching how both would sacrifice themselves for each other.

i read all the manga, it got stupid when kanako was introduced. The "real" ending was pointless and anticlimatic. If granny hinata knew already, why all the hassle? To me, the christmas special was the real ending, because it showed naru making up her mind and admitting her feelings openly, with none of the endless back and forth. I mean, naru knew how many volumes of the manga before the ending from mutsumi?

I like akamatsu..i have all the love hina and negima volumes, some of the a.i. love you. I even watched mao-chan. But he can be an utter idiot in terms of pacing and plot, and love hina went on way too long after all the questions were answered. That's why love hina again sucked so hard.
