I finally got around to seeing Gran Torino last night. I thought it was very, very good. It's somewhat bittersweet for me, because Clint Eastwood is one of my favorite people, and this could very well be his last film. I think I had read that he said it would be his last starring acting role.
Eastwood is great in it, and really is the epitome of a crotchety, racist old man. Some of the Hmong performances are good, while others are a bit lacking, as can happen when you have large-scale casts of inexperienced actors. I thought that it was certainly worthy of at least one Oscar nomination, though with the strength of the field it might not have deserved to win.
