I've known about both these series for some time, but I was too busy checking out more recent production to give them much thought. After what I had been watching previously this was quite a nice refresher.

Soul Eater is your standard shounen combat series, but with enough twists to keep it interesting. The art style remind me of flash videos by Vinnie Veritas, the designs are fun and very emotive of character personalities. Soul Eater is doesn't trip over poorly reasoned combat because it doesn't take combat seriously. Bleach and naruto try to enact combat realistically within the rules set up for their world, but they leapt into common combat pitfalls such as character inexplicable saving their best moves until the end rather than using them immediately or combatants becoming stronger when injured rather than weaker. Soul Eater doesn;t even bother, and many of the early fights involve comical slip ups that in any serious fight would have guaranteed death. This has the effect of making fight scenes more fun and more interesting. Soul Eater doesn't tend to drag out the action either unlike Bleach and Naruto, though there have been two filler episodes so far. I also really like having the boisterous, perverted, tough guy character that usually stars in shounen fighters allocated to an important but secondary character. The leads star a studios and hardworking female and a reserved and unenergetic male. Overall a much more enjoyable series than Bleach or Naruto, though still lacking depth. I rated it a 7 in comparison to Naruto's 6 and Bleach's 5.

Eureka Seven starts out with a very cliche shounen mecha beginning, but quickly grows well beyond that. The series almost uses cliche intentionally to increase accessibility before later funneling viewers gradually into a more serious plot. Renton is a great execution of the standard shounen lead, being far less annoying than many of his colleagues. The show does a very nice job of not trying to nonsensically force the plot, making the story flow very naturally from the initial conditions. I have yet to finish it, but I like it a lot so far and would rate it an 8.

I absolutely loved Eureka Seven. I was shocked as to the maturity of the plot when you first glance at it. You will not be disappointed by it at all. I believe I started watching in on Adult Swim and it was pretty much the best thing on at the time, even though that's not saying much.

<-- E7 avatar yay.

<<<<<<<<<3333333333333 eureka seven. I actually remember that I rewatched all 50 episodes again right after I finished watching it for a first time. When I got hooked on it I still had to wait for nanashi to slowly release the subs until I got my hands on some leaked unfinished versions that were good enough for me. <.<;

I rewatched it again recently too as well actually. Smiley: lol About 2~ weeks ago. I also used Eureka and Renton as my avatar on here for quite a while back when I started watching it. Personally I can't really get into the dubbed version, even though I did watch the first 2~3 episodes dubbed on CN before I started watching the fansubbed version.

I think I'll switch to my E7 avatar as well for a few hours before I go back to my hardcore till I die avatar ;p.

I've seen a few E7 on Adult Swim a while back, I liked what I saw but being in the middle of the story I kinda lost interest Smiley: tongue.

I haven't watched too much of the Soul Eater anime yet (though I've been downloading it), but the manga is pretty good. Black Star and Tsubaki are probably amongst the better characters to have been created in the past few years. It's like a slightly more serious One Piece in the "I'm serious in not taking this serious" approach it takes to things.

How anyone remotely thinkgs Eureka 7 is any good is beyond me. I watched about 40 of the episodes missing one every now and aga and it was complete trash. Renton is extremely annoying and after the chick goes bonkers and cuts her hair it just complete crap. I ahd high hopes for this series but it just became to convuluted and messy after the first 20 episodes or so.

Eureka Seven is rated as a 2.

Now before you lash into me ill give you some stuff to compare it to.

Last Exile: I give this a 9. The artwork is done very well and the overall story is great. It has a few smaller story arcs in it, and is just fun to watch. The air ship battles are rendered in a 3d/2d type fashion and are pretty to watch also. The characters are also properly voiced and are never annoying.

Big O (Season 1): I give this an 8. Typical bad *** robots fighting bad *** robots or monsters, but what sets this apart is the style of the world and the music. The music for this series and world feel make this a great anime. I gave it an 8 because the story because zomgwtfbbq complicated near the end, also the second season(which was done by CN) doesnt have the same livelyness as the first and tends to voer complicate the story arc even more, so season 2 gets a 6.5.

Outlaw Star: I give this a 10. This is probably my favorite anime of all time. Has just enough of everything and a compelling story to keep you trecking along.

Bleach: I give this an 8. I really enjoy bleaches themes for weapons/bad guys/ areas along with the story arc. They tend to be able to rbeak battles up enough and elongate them jsut enough as compared to Naruto or DBZ which become to drawn out or talkative at times. Plus the enemey types and forms are very original.

Naruto: Watched up to episode 210 and was never really impressed. I give Naruto about a 5. Naruto himself is rather annoying and the overall story arcs are drawn way to far out. Also the side characters become way more itneresting then naruto himself.

Final Fantasy Unleashed (think thats a name): I give this like a 2. I can only watch like 2 episodes at a time ebfore im just like wtf. The entire thing is almost the worse anime ive ever seen.

Oh come on Allegory, Bleach isn't that bad.

It's definitely worth a 7, even if only until the Sereitei arc was over.

Thanks because of you i think i need to download Outlaw Star episodes to check the anime out after hearing a lot of positive feedbacks about the show from other people as well...

Final Fantasy Unleashed a 2? Really? good thing its still in my "Anime Series for Watching" folder in my hard drive. But ill still give this series a try in the future.

Back to the topic...

I find E7 a good show. Well my girlfriend likes it and it's fun watching the show with her. Yeah Renton seems annoying sometimes but it's nice that the show dealt with serious issues. I really dont like what they did with Eureka's hair throughout the series lol

Soul Eater? never watched this anime... is it really that good?

Some people just like different things. I'm a hopeless romantic on the inside, so of course I <3'd it.

I was too lazy before, but I have time now, so let me tell you why Bleach is bad.

Bleach is a shounen series that does shounen well but doesn't grow beyond that. The character designs, abilities, and battle are all reasonably interesting, but that lack any sort of depth.

Ichigo 's entire personality and motivation can be summed up as "Gotta save my friends!" That is all he does and that is all he is. First it was Orihime, then it was Rukia, then Orihime again. It's probably going to be Rukia next. Naruto at least has a secondary motivation. Sure he wants to generically protect his friends, but he also wants to earn recognition and become Hokage. With Edward Elric there is even less emphasis on protecting others, and initially he is focused on resurrecting his mother and then later on recovering his and his borther's body.

Ichigo is generically just strong. He was apparently born with a strong Reiatsu. There's no real reason given for it, he just "the chosen one." Naruto from time to time uses the Demon Fox's chakra to aid him and make him stronger, while this is still somewhat of a cheap "chosen one," setup at least a reason is given and it ties in with the plot. Edward Elric is given much better reasons for being good at alchemy, he studies hard and has seen the gate due to his own choices. In addition to this Ichigo's power is also rather bland, he's just good at fighting, with no real special abilities. Where other character can double the weight of their opponents with hits, lock their opponents in sensory deprivation, or two hit kill, Ichigo just cuts things down.

Chad and Ishida don't matter. They're sidekicks. They will never fight an important villain and never be equals to Ichigo. They are there so that the author may draw more battles.

Orihime has no personality and no purpose. She is the girl to be saved, that is her raison d'tre. She's given the healing abilities card like Sakura was in an attempt to give her purpose, but it fails.

Honestly, when it comes to Bleach the only character I've grown fond of is Zaraki Kenpachi.
