The DBZ TV series is receiving an extensive "refresh" for Japanese television airing
*

This is a celebration of the 20th anniversary of DBZ
*

While based on the original animation production, it is being updated with new technology
*

This includes extending the frames for formatting on an HD 16:9 display (note: not cropping the image)
*

The original Japanese cast is re-grouping to re-voice the show (where available, and unfortunately not including those that have passed on, such as Hirotaka Suzuoki [Tenshinhan])
*

Sound effects are being updated
*

Unlike the general show, the OPs and EDs are being completely redone
*

While not in the above announcement, other reports are noting that the number of episodes is being reduced from 291 to approximately 100

I'm actually very excited about this. I've been a fan since I was a kid. No more 3 episode long screaming battles, or filler of any kind. It's going to be awesome!

Reminds me of when the redid the english dubs from DBZ beginning to somewhere in the middle of the Namak Saga (when Goku first arrived).

There was that year+ long hiatus, and they came back and most of the voice actors had changed. Then they went back and redid the earlier episodes again with the new voice actors for consistency (and fixed up some of the translation issues).

I've read the manga from start (Dragonball) to finish.

I've seen the anime from start (Dragonball) to the manga's finish (DBZ. I've seen a few GTs here & there, but it was mostly crap).

The cutting it down actually interests me a bit. However, I feel if they're going to remaster DBZ they should start with Dragonball.

& if not all of Dragonball, at the very least, the first fight between Goku & Piccolo (Jr.!).

Occasionally, I go to youtube and watch the 'no filler' clips. I remember buying the tapes each month when they came out. Now you can just find them anywhere online. Funimation made a lot of money off of me. Smiley: frown

I was missing the end of the Buu saga. I sold them on Ebay for $430, shipping was $30 iirc. I paid waaaay more, even with the discount I received for pre-order.

Wow... that isn't bad though.

I think I offered my 25-30 random tapes to my sister, who refused.

So their next home was a 40gal garbage bag.

I was the coolest kid in town, because I'd always buy the tapes and had seen the whole Cell/Buu saga way before all my friends. I was so badass.

They better leave the overemphasized "OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAND" line in, is all I'm saying. It'd be like playing Final Fantasy 4 without the Spoony Bard comment.
