Well, it has always been one of my favorite genre's of fiction. Be it zombies, natural disasters, bio, WW3/nuclear holocaust etc. Recently though, I have started to seek out more forms of media that can sate my hunger for survivalism.

Any recommendations are welcome, here's a short list I can put here in good faith of quality imo:

Jericho (Cut short, but a 29 episode series aired on CBS)
Survivors Two series. One ran on BBC in the 79's and inspired a remake of the books the original series was based on. I'm watching the 2008 remake first (it's far easier to find), with plans to watch the complete 70's series next.
World War Z Probably the best zombie novel available. Supposed to be in theaters in 2010.

I've seen pretty much every zombie movie I can get my hands on in VHS or region 1 DVD. Fido, ...of the Dead (Romero series), and 12 Monkey's are my favorites off the top of my head.

I know there is a whole list of post-apocalypse media on wikipedia, but I am looking for some first hand advice on which to seek out.

The Resident Evil movies are crazy-awesome action/zombie movies, if you haven't seen them. Just don't go into watching them expecting too much actual resident evil to show through.

But Milla Jovovich's nipples sure do show through...

(Seriously, those things are huge!)

One I liked was Year Zero. They ending is really meh, but the book is good up until that.

Equilibrium Is a post WW3 era. A great movie loosely based off a great book. I may need to reread 1984 now that I think about it.

The Road by Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men).

Bleak future is bleak.

Soon to be a movie with Viggo Mortensen.

That sounds interesting. I'll have to read it.

Definitely an interesting one. I'd been meaning to watch it for over a year and finally got around to it this weekend. Did not disappoint. Not particularly deep, but definitely post-apocalyptic and entertaining as an action flick.

The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham is pretty good.
I think there's 2 movie versions out but ignore whichever one is NOT from the BBC.
CBC radio here used to be great at broadcasting drama and I'm sure there's several audio versions available.
