Anime music is funny.

You can order the US released soundtracks of some series ($20), the original JP release ($35), or the cheap bootlegged knockoffs ($10). However, if you're doing the latter, not a penny is going to the artist, and you might as well be getting it for free from someplace like www.boxttorrents.com.

Hurr hurr, you did what I did there?

Tank is the first song on my waking up on a weekend morning playlist. That helps you in no way whatsoever, but I just thought I'd mention it.

Tank! is an awesome piece, it's a 5 star on my list. The rest of the music from the Cowboy Beebop stuff is nice jazz, and good to listen to together, but it's a shame none of it approaches the heart-pounding adrenaline of Tank.

TLW reminded me recently of just how fantastic a lot of anime music is. I don't know how much average shows spend on it, but very many of them give the full out impression of awesome composition and orchestration. And even some of the cheesy, poppy stuff can be catchy and moving.

My favourite Anime music has to be a particular Akira soundtrack album. The temple music and "Requiem" give me chills every time.

I love anime OSTs, and have several from Slayers, Code Geass, Rozen Maiden, Ah! My Goddess, Cardcaptor Sakura, Full Moon Wo Sagashite, and others. About half of them I purchased, either online or through a local store (I'd recommend the former, much better selection), the other half I use TPB or similar sites.

Yoko Kanno is quite a talented artist. I also enjoys many songs by Ali Project and Susumu Hirasawa.

The "rock" songs on the BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad Album are surprisingly awesome.

If you follow the series, the songs sung by Chiba are akin to Rage Against the Machine in both "lyrics" (He's Japanese. I dunno wtf he's saying) & music.

I was really, really surprised aout how good the bass player is on those songs as well.

I like Flow - Colors, so sue me.

Also, this is a great version of Tank. Love the ending.

I've had good luck with Play-Asia. What I love the most is the price and the fast shipping. Going to order FF13 soundtrack from them once I can.

Play-Asia is pretty awesome, and yes they can have some pretty insane shipping. I got a copy of IIDX 7th style and a controller from them with the cheapest shipping, and less than 48 hours after placing the order, it was on my doorstep from Hong Kong.

Yoko Kanno is pretty awesome. When I see her name on a soundtrack for an Anime I know the music is going to be pretty good. Also, if you own the Walking on Heavens Door Cowboy Bebop DVD, there is a great interview with her in the bonus features. If I remember correctly she talks about how she was influenced by Jazz on her first visit to America.

To download it, gendou.com is the #1 source I always go to. Granted, they don't have every anime song but they have a good chunk of it. Torrents are great and all, but sometimes you get bad ones with random crap embedded in the script that causes weird things to happen when it's run.

To buy it, well google is your friend.

Seconding gendou.com. The site's been around for years now; I remember going there when I was in high school to find songs. It's great if you just want a single song, too.
