The last episode of your favorite anime...Follow

#1 Jan 20 2009 at 8:37 PM Rating: Good
I'm just a tad curious about everyones thoughts on when they watch the very last episode of there favorite anime.
personally I feel like im lacking something once the final episode comes out i'd rather not rewatch the series immediatly because i know it would somewhat cause me to grow tired of it but still i pray somehow theres another series or something very similar that i could at least watch (hence the other post i made awhile back).

of course this isnt the case with a lot of people who feel that theres usually a point where the ending is perfect where it is and any point forward would ruin there likeing of the anime.

Any thoughts or stories u have?

Slayers - Meh, the ending's ok but nothing special. The anime just didn't have a big storyline that needed closure.

FMWS - The story drew me in the entire time, but the last couple of episodes were slightly cheesy imo. Still a good watch, and it still gave me the closure and end I needed to a good series.

Code Geass - First season had no real ending; R2, however, had a perfect ending (imo) and brought a great and fitting end to an amazing series. They technically left it open for another season but I would be disappointed if that happened.

When I finish an anime or video game that I've been enjoying, I tend towards three different reactions.

1)Wistful - I'm sad to see it over. It was awesome and it almost feels like an era has ended. A short era, mind you, but an era. I had this when I finished watching GTO, Vandread, Fruits Basket and a couple others. This feeling only happens to me when both the anime/game and the ending were good.

2)Neutral - When the anime itself was only decent, I tend to not really feel anything at the end. It's just the end of a show.

3)The Berserk Feeling. No, I don't mean I'm feeling berserk. I've named this after the way I felt after finishing the anime, Berserk. The anime was awesome. The ending? Not so much. There was anger, confusion, then more confusion, then anger, then hunger, then anger again. And some more confusion. Yeah...

Rurouni Kenshin had a terrible 'ending', mostly because it didn't get to the manga ending before being terminated. That was partially undone by the two excellent movies though.

With Berserk, I actually posted a question on the forum as to whether or not it really ended the way I saw it end. I just couldn't believe they'ld end like that, I still can't lol.

oh, the agony. my favorite anime. that's a bit of a toughy. Berserk is good. just wish they had continued it, especially since the manga is STILL going on. but I can understand, given its graphic nature. Martian Successor Nadesico is pretty good, and I like the ending (though the movie kinda blew). if you want a happy go-lucky, feel good ending, nothing quite beats Generator Gawl.

as for personal favorite ways to end a series..."Bang"

Aww ^^

Umm, for me it's Evangelion. Mostly, I think Shinji is way too ****** up. I hated him for making a pass at Asuka and for getting Masato killed. It's probably the most weird ending I have ever seen.

Exactly this, even the animes named (except for Vandread as I haven't seen that).

Poldaran if you enjoyed Berserk the anime you should really try reading the manga. Take everything good about Berserk, make it a little better, and then don't stop after what is essentially an introduction arc to the series. The anime covers approximately 13 volumes of the manga; there are currently 33 volumes out.

Considering what his father and Nerve subjected him to, it's no surprise he went off the deep end.

And I can't blame him for rubbing one out on a passed out chick. Kids will be kids.

See, when I watched geass I didn't know that R2 existed, and thought that everyone died. It was actually a pretty nice ending that way with a very poignant message.

Let's see

FLCL: ending was depressing and encouraging simultaneously. Depressing because Haruko is all like "***** you're just a kid" and encouraging for some reason that I can't fathom.

The giant robots never again had to pop out of his head. And you know he totally hooked up with that class president chick in the end.

That's fairly encouraging.

I never could tell if it was implied or not that she raped him. She gets damn close in I think episode 3

At the end of Evangelion, Asuka invoked the "last man on Earth" clause.

Poor Shinji.

there were a few things that drove me nuts with the ending (that part with the wagon and supposidly lelouch driveing it was one) but one of the main ones was did Schneizel live or die at the end? i dont recall seeing him actaully die (though its been awhile since i've seen it so i could be wrong) but IF Lelouch(sp) died (still dunno if he REALY did because of the wagon thingy) then wouldnt he go back to being bad again? :X

or he died when the thingy blew up (im trying to not spoil it if anyone is currently watching it)

Well, that's pretty much desensitised me to violence for the next couple of years.

I have to say, the main appeal of this for me is the gratuitous violence and the quality of the illustrations. They must have taken ages.

The gratuitous violence is actually a very necessary part of the story. It is a physical manifestation of Guts' trauma and hatred.
