DEAR GOD. Whoever is director BETTER beat some Alert, Smooth, Intelligent Coolness into Keanu. And a piercing gaze under lowered lashes. PIERCING.
Ah well. The anime movie version of Cowboy Bebop was a total letdown for me anyway. It seemed to me it wasn't the same animation team that did the movie as did the TV series, which was vastly superior in graphical compositions. The plotting wasn't as freighted with weight, or as tight, either.
But... but I'm going to have to see the live action Cowboy Bebop anyway, even in expectation of Fail, because I loved the series so much, and I'm going to hope against hope...

Cromartie live action movie was also terrible. Despite what the humorless Allegory thinks, that friggin' anime/manga was HILARIOUS! Really!

Live-action anime adaptations never really work. The reverse does, though. I really liked A Scanner Darkly, and that had Keanu in it. He wasn't awful, either.
I think a lot of people rail on Keanu unfairly. He's not a naturally wooden actor. People just automatically think of him when they want a wooden character, like a spaced-out drug addict, a hacker or an alien. His reputation for impassive acting exceeds him.

I could have begrudgingly accepted a white boy as Goku (Americanized and all) but they @#%^ed up the creation story of the Dragon Balls just so they wouldn't offend the intolerant Jesus freaks.

The whole race of green men wasn't even known until DBZ. In Dragonball they were created by Kami (literally God) and King Piccolo was supposed to be the Devil.

Yes, but they never mentioned another planet or another race in the series. King Piccolo was the evil that Kami expelled from himself to obtain godhood.

Goku had his tail removed (by Kami, I believe, during training) when he was young in the Dragonball series. So he wouldn't have it as a man that he appears to be in the Trailer.

There were some decent comic book movies, high hopes for Watchmen too.

Hmm, Keanu as Spike. He at least has the right look. His deadpan voice is a decent match too. He won't be terrible, but I doubt that he'll do a great job either.
