Here's the new Doctor Who:Follow

I've never heard of the guy before, but then I didn't really know any of the previous ones before they were Doctor Who either.

Still, at 26 years of age, Matt Smith is definitely going to be the youngest doctor.

I wonder if he'll be able to make all the fans 'forget' about Tennant.

Here's a link to the official site.

Personally, I think having never heard of them (well, never having seen them act, anyway) is a plus. I think it's one of the reasons I preferred Eccleston to Tennant.

True, but it could lead to the fairly unexperienced and unknown actor being forced into playing the doctor in a way he doesn't really want to. I just hope that the writers won't make him into a new Tennant, trying to force him to play like Tennant did. Granted, it's the same Doctor, but each actor did put a bit of himself in it.

That could also be seen as extremely naive, I must admit Smiley: grin

Yes, there was that when Baker was the Doctor too. I do think each Doctor should be different, though. I like the different personalities each actor puts into the role. I had read the BBC site and I do have an optimistic attitude about the new actor.

I think Eccleston's Doctor was modelled very heavily on Baker, and Tennant continued that. Dr Who is "an intensely curious and moral person"... but the best of them have also been really very manic. "High on Life". With serious moments of course, when things get sad or dangerous. But always returning to that bouncy, mad mania. It makes the character very charismatic, and most of the Doctors have shared that characteristic. Interesting, attractive or riveting even, because of charisma. Not because of smooth good physical looks.
