-This is a pretty amazing show. It's probably best described as a Romance. It's one of the shows where you find it hard to choose which character you want to root for since all of them show signs of their good and bad. Of all the shows this one has a lot of "soap opera" potential.

Darker than BLACK

I have read alot of the manga. I really like Nana. I should go see the anime. Btw, I didn't like the movie versions at all. It's like they sucked all the humor, the slyness and the cleverness from the manga and kept the drama--the imbalance sucked the life out of the story.

I think if you liked Baccano! you will like Gankutsuou. That is not to say they are similar stories, but they are both heavily character driven.
The first couple episodes were a bit weird for me, but then I got used to the art style. I'm enjoying the story so far (onto episode 11), and I have no idea where it's going to go.

I do realize that Allegory and I really don't have the same sense of humor. He hates Cromartie High School--the funniest anime EVER. EVER.

We could probably agree that Princess Tutu is funny, IF YOU WOULD EVER WATCH IT!

For the record, probably the funniest and most messed up anime I've seen besides Excel Saga. I still have no idea of half the stuff that happened in Jungle Wa Itsumo.

I'm glad you liked it... It's why I started watching anime once upon a time. Haven't really watched any in years though... =/

Oddly enough, neither have I. I have read a TON of manga recently (ie, last 2-3 months). Let's see...

-Fruits Basket
-Elfen Lied
-Tsuabasa Reservoir Chronicles
-Rave!
-Negima!
-History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi
-Full Metal Alchemist
-Addicted to Curry
-Bartender
-Chrno Crusade
-First Girl (my first, and only, venture into "romance" manga... ugh)
-Deathnote
-Vampire Knight (just the first couple of chapters)

Huh. I'm starting to think I need more to do at work...
*Edit: Not all of these were read at work. First Girl and Elfen Lied definitely not.

I don't know if I should watch Clannad or Death Note first.

No, I will not alternate watching both series, I hate doing that.

Well, for what it's worth you only need to watch half of Death Note to enjoy it. The second half is kind of a let down, truth be told. The series could have ended in the middle and it would have been perfect, but the creators felt the need for a happy ending, and for a series like Death Note a happy ending wasn't really necessary.

I just finished downloading Clannad (and Clannad: After Story), so I can't really say anything about that. DN is good, though.

QFT. The second half of Deathnote was incredibly inferior to the first half.

You need to stop listening those guys and start listening to me. I'm your friend, Kirby. Allegory is a monster.

It depends on what you watched before and so on. Both shows are very well done and really are completely different. I finally got around to finishing up Nodame Cantabile which is more of a comedy then anything and I'm feeling the need for some action (especially since I was tracking K-On and Haruhi Suzumiya season 2)...

You can't really go wrong with either show.... personally I liked Clannad better, but that's a personal opinion.

Since I'm here.. some more shows to watch

Nodame Cantabile (and Paris chapter)
-I'll be the first to admit at first a show about classical music did not appeal to me at all. However, Noda Megumi (one of the principle characters) makes up for everything. The show is funny, and well animated. This show has a simple premise, but excellent character interaction.

One Outs
-This show really took me by surprise. Being a guy I like it when I get a little fan service in an anime. However, even though this anime might not have action, or fan service, it has incredible tension in the game of... base ball. This show is really a battle of wits between characters, everyone should give it a shot.
(As much anime as I've seen this is among the only sports titles I've seen as it is possibly my least favorite genre)

Black Lagoon
-I'm sure this has been mentioned before but it's worth mentioning again. This show is simply explosive. If you want old style shoot em up action this is your show. It's not going to win any thinking or tension awards but this show is fun from start to finish.

I stopped watching Death Note at episode 17, just liek ya'll told me to. I loved the whole battle of wits though. Really had me wondering who'd win.

I started watching Clannad, and I gotta say I like the ending Smiley: lol
