Smiley: mad It's pretty much all I do for entertainment now that I don't play FFXI. And I kinda lost interest in MGO.
I'm on episode 13 by the way.

Done Clannad, taking a break before starting Clanad: After Story.
It might just be me, but I don't like how it ended. I would have been satisfied with it ending at episode 23, but then they had to do the whole alternate scenario thing. Meh, still good.

I stopped watching Death Note at episode 17, just liek ya'll told me to. I loved the whole battle of wits though. Really had me wondering who'd win.

I started watching Clannad, and I gotta say I like the ending Smiley: lol

You can watch about 2/3rds of the way through really. When you watch it you'll realize when it starts to go downhill. Plus, episode 24 is f*cking fantastic. Stop after 25.

'kay, I'm starting to hate anime that use the whole alternate reality thing Smiley: frown

Like in Clannad. You feel something towards the main characters as they deepen their relationship or whatever, and go through all these experiences.
Than BAM, same characters, totally different scenario.
Or episode 22 of Clannad: After Story.
Pure sadness, then everything's all good in the last half of the episode, as everything they went through is completely erased or whatever, and they live happily ever after.

Smiley: mad I guess I'll start watching Episode 23.

Hate is a strong word. I guess it's just a minor pet peeve of mine. I still loved the show though, made me teary-eyed in a couple episodes.

I take back what I said.

Also, I'm on episode 4 of Ouran High School Host Club. It was the only anime my sister tried watching with her friend. I've tried to get her to watch some other series, but she just doesn't like the whole subtitle thing.
I'd try and get some english dubs, but man, I just hate how goofy the english voice actors are.

I stopped at episode 11 of Ouran High School. I dunno, guess I'm just not in the mood for it.

Code Geass had me hooked on the first episode, I'm now on 10. Good thing I have 3 days off work to catch up on anime Smiley: thumbsup

Any recommendations similar to Toshokan Sensou or Full Metal Panic (preferably without the mecha)? A level of realism in modern combat is what I'm looking for. Comedy and romance could enhance it (as it did in these 2), but I'm looking more for the action. Phantom has some of that. A little unrealistic when you consider he's taking on like 50 guys at once and owning them all without eating a single bullet or even grazing him.

Going to a convention next month, but I feel a bit behind. I haven't had much time for anime lately so I was hoping for some suggestions so that I'm not out of the loop. In the last year or two I've only watched FMA Brotherhood, DB-kai, Fairy Tail and One Piece. I stopped watching Bleach, Naruto, and Hitman Reborn, but I have read all of the manga chapters.

What I'd like help on is suggestions on newer animes that I should watch. Last Exile 2 is on the list so far and that's it. I'd like to be able to recognize cosplay and such when I go. Any help is appreciated.

I read the entire thread just to catch up on it all, then realized it started in like 2009.

Anyway, to Mr. Necro, some good ones I've seen recently:

-Durarara!!
-The World God Only Knows
-Angel Beats
-Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica
-Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni
-Gosick (haven't seen all of it but my girlfriend highly recommends it)

Mr. Necro should watch Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha. And As. StrikerS is a bit more...specialized.

I'm sorry about bumping this post, I thought it was the right thing to do Smiley: frown.

Now I really feel out of the loop since I only recognize three of those. I'll check them out tonight. For now, Necro out~

All in good fun. Usually necro posters are spamming ads or somesuch. You seem ok.

Also, these might not all be to your liking. Here's a bit more explanation:
-Durarara!! Kind of about urban legends. One of the main character is Celty, a Headless Horsewoman who has lost her head. The series revolves around several characters with various backgrounds whose paths cross. It's a little dark, but very good. I hope they make a second season (or series) because there is a lot more to expand upon.

-The World God Only Knows Kind of a harem anime; the main character is a huge galge otaku (games where you "capture" women; love simulations, basically). He gets recruited by a demon to capture escaped spirits from hell that have taken up residence in girls' hearts; the only problem being that he needs to use his gaming skills in the real world, and they don't always mesh perfectly. It's hilarious and cute. The first season's opening song is great. Currently two seasons are out so far.

-Angel Beats A nice spin on your basic school days genre, where the characters are part of a high school in the afterlife. Instead of being "good" students and disappearing, they decide to rebel against God and his "Angel." Very violent, but touching and a great ending. Also an awesome opening song.

-Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica A more sinister and dark look at the typical "magical girl (mahou shoujo)" genre. In it, a cutesy cat thingy named QB grants one wish to a girl in exchange for her to become a magical girl for the rest of her life and fight witches. Turns out though if the girl doesn't doesn't fight, she will quickly be killed... or worse. Very good, very interesting art style.

-Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Super dark and freaky anime. The anime is bipolar in its presentation and goes in arcs of a few episodes at a time. At heart it's a murder mystery with supernatural elements. Basically, people keep dying, so an outside force "resets" the conditions and tries to figure out how to break the cycle. The best dark anime I've seen.

-Gosick A girl genius in England works with a Japanese exchange student to solve seemingly supernatural mysteries using her amazing powers of deduction and insight. Pretty good from what I've seen, but only seen a few episodes. It seems a little dark, but not as much as some of the others on here.

Kore wa Zombie rate me down ka?
Mitsudomoe
Nichijou
Dragon Crisis
Hana-Saku Iroha
Bakemonogatari
Asura Cryin'
Eden of the East
Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai (or just Ore no Imouto for short)

Those would be my suggestions from the past couple years, though I'm sure I missed a couple besides what was already mentioned.

What exactly was the reason to make "de su" into "rate me down" instead?
