It's the latest book in the Incarnations of Immortality series by Piers Anthony. It just came out in 2007. I was re-reading the original 7 books this past month and just out of curiousity I googled the series.

Sure enough there's a new book. Considering the last book was released in 1990 I'm a little aprehensive of this one. I loved the Incarnations of Immortality series.

Has anyone else picked up this book and read it? Piers himself says it's different from the rest but ties together the series. There's a more sexual theme in this one (being about the Incarnation of Night I'm not suprised) but just wondering if it's worth picking up and reading.

I say read it but don't pay money for it. Get it from the library or something.

The book was interesting but not really that good overall. Instead of the usual "teenage softcore **** disguised as fantasy" approach Anthony usually takes, this time he wrote full out ****. That really detracted a lot from the story and how good it could have been if Anthony had left out all the pointless sex (and there's a LOT of pointless sex. A LOT. It's like the main theme of the book.)

That's what I hear. It was always eluded to in the other books and did get stronger as the stories went along. It was tolerable.

I recently went to his website and found out he's experimenting with Viagra. Maybe that has something to do with it.

It's kind of disappointing but I was ready for this because of other things I've heard. Of course from what I hear the majority of it takes place in a brothel. Or at least the beginning part.

How does it do as a "final wrap-up" for the series?

As you might expect from a story about Nox, most of the book takes before current time and then later jumps ahead in big leaps to catch up to the present (much like in For Love of Evil.) The back story was interesting but once it caught up to the present the actual conclusion was pretty stupid and disappointing.
