So, I normally have a collection of 30 or so books ready to read. At this point it's more like 50...but I'm in the mood for none of them, so I'm re-reading some Star Wars Rogue Squadron. I've not been in the mood to read a new book for some time now, and honestly, it's scaring me!

Will I ever get back the voracious reading of new material? If not, I'm going to have a hell of a time explaining to my husband why there's 48 new books sitting in my back room waiting to be entered into my book collection website, as well as ....well, read!

*cries*

You guys go through this, or am I just being hormonal? Or both....ha ha

I just found reading about a year ago, so I haven't been through the puberty of books yet. But here is my advice: Suck it up and read the new books.

I do that too. I have a whole stack of books just sitting there waiting to be read but I find myself rereading other things or getting trashy fluff from the library instead. I'll get around to my "new" stuff eventually though.

Maybe... someday...

I find that the more books I get, the less I read. Very odd, but I just don't like a pile of books waiting for me to read them, it really demotivates me to actually read them.

I try never to get more than 3 or so books that I want to read, but if I step inside a secondhand bookstore, there's no way I limit myself to only 3.

I'm not so much running out of books as running out of room to PUT the books. My hallway is already lined with bookshelves. If I buy many more books i'ma gonna have to replace some of my "normal" bookshelves with custom ones that fit paperbacks more snugly to allow more shelves :-)

Lias, I've solved this (kinda) by stacking paperbacks 2 deep, and 2 high. I do it by genre/author/series.

I'm still deciding on whether I want to use shelfari or librarything to organize them though, so most of them are spread out on a table, isbn number up (or cover up if the ISBN is in the front cover), until I actually get started with the organization.

And I've taken Azazel's advice. I'm just gonna freakin' read 'em. NO NEW BOOKS until the current pile gets some love. That's why I bought them after all....

I'm not some weirdo who just goes out and buys books for the pure love of book buying...and owning them....and stuff......really...I think

omg help me, I have a disease!

That is my downfall. Hubby laughs at me because I'll spend a million hours at Borders looking for a book and then shrug my shoulders and pick up something from Nora Roberts.

Me too. I think I've read one Harry Turtledove series at least 5 times now...

It does help though to have an eclectic taste in reading material...I mean, I can go from reading an Alternate History or Historical Fiction novel one day, to reading something policitcal the next, or some mangas the next.

Just keep the non LOTR and HP fantasy books away from me and I'll pretty muich read anything.

There is no such thing as too many books.

I am constantly looking for something new to read. Used to be I would read certain books once a year, but now, I pick up so many new books that there is no time to reread them anymore.

I am looking at getting an almost complete Stephen King collection. That will keep me busy for a while.

i generally will pick up a series and then read the first book and finish the series then i just let the series collect dust on my bookshelf, a few exceptions are the belgariad, sword of truth, and harry potter series which ive read multiple times

I hate you.

I am now digging through several boxes of books to try and find my Rogue Squadron books. I was just getting back into reading new material (The Island in the Sea of Time series), and you had to go and bring up Rogue Squadron. Wedge is one of my favorite Star Wars characters.

Just kidding, I dont hate you, but you do suck.
