So I was just watching Underworld: Evolution, and I was just thinking about how much I would really enjoy another one.

Anyone else want another one or am I alone here?

Since William died, there isn't a Vampire or Lycan race.

That was just a bluff, wasn't it? Something he told Victor so that he never had to deal with a coup? I mean, there isn't actually anyway they could know that, as they were the first vampire and werewolf.

But, I would assume it is untrue, as Corvinus died but Selene lived.

I think enough spoiler warnings have been placed already. One more spoiler incoming, though.

It's revealed in the movie that Marcus said that all of the race would die if the "first one" was killed in order to prevent Victor from killing him.

Ps. The third Underworld movie is going to take place before the events of the first movie. As far as I've heard, anyways.

I know that, but then the historian guy called it a "cunning bluff" but one that Victor would not wish to test.

The second Underworld book had to do with Lucian and his romance with Victor's daughter, it may be like that.

That would make more sense. I mean, how would they make another Underworld movie progressing in the series when all the Vampires and Lycan are extinct.

Who says they're extinct? Marcus lied to Victor when he said that the races would die out if the first one was to be killed. He was afraid Victor, more powerful than Marcus, would kill him to take over the throne.

As the historian said, a cunning bluff.

I never read the books, I think someone above mentioned books, only the movies, so my knowledge is from the movies. Remember in Evolution, basically the last seen, the Hybrid (I forget his name) rips the upper jaw and the head above it off of William. And then the lovely Kate Beckinsale no longer is burning in the sun light. Wouldn't that mean the Vampires and Lycan are extinct?

Well, BEckinsale had become a pure immortalby taking the blood of Alexander Corvinus, so she was neither Lycan or Vampire. One would expect that Michael would have been weakened by the death of one of the brothers, and killed by the other.

I don't think Evolution had a book, or I didn't read it at least. I read the Evolution one and the one about Lucian and Sonya. He definitely called it a cunning bluff in the movie, although that would be easy to miss/forget.

Look, there's no evidence to prove that either of the races would be destroyed should the First One fall. It was a myth Marcus made up so Victor wouldn't slay him and take control over the vampires.

The movie goes out of its way to describe how vampirism and lycanism are mutations caused by the blood of someone who survived the Black Plague or whatever. There's no garlic or holy water stories. Vampires are allergic to UV light (as are some people in the real world, btw) and lycans are allergic to silver (I'm sure you'd develop quite a rash if someone jettisoned liquid silver into your veins as well).

The entire Underworld story builds on modern science, not ancient teological myths. That an entire race would die because the First One was to die makes no sense from a scientific point of view. Unless you've watched Blade Trinity, in which case I must kick you in the teeth for even comparing the two movies.

It makes no sense, with the information given in the movies, that the races would die out with the death of their leader.

I'm still stuck on this; soon after William died Selene could stand in the light with no harm. Earlier in the movie, you notice that Selene is getting injured from the sun.

As long as they make the next film good, and stick to what they established in the first two films, I would probably enjoy it.
#14 Mar 27 2008 at 9:34 PM Rating: Excellent
The next film has been established as being a prequel to the first film, acting to flesh out Lucian's past, which was just somewhat touched on in the first film. Since it would be a time before Selene, Beckinsale is most likely not going to be in it.

Azazel, between her contact with the sunlight towards the beginning of the movie and her stepping out into the sunlight unaffected in the end, she had drank the blood of Alexander Corvinus, the True Immortal. As such, not only did her strength increase (to the point that Marcus was impressed) but she was no longer capable of dying (survived Marcus impaling her with his wing without showing any signs of weakening, then stepped out into the sunlight and was unaffected.)

Be mindful of the Administratrix. She corrupts you from within and when you are most fragile, she will rip your heart asunder and devour your soul.
