Anime Suggestions for the Miyasaki lover?Follow

#1 Sep 30 2007 at 5:07 PM Rating: Good
Ever since getting Netflix I've seen almost every Hayao Miyasaki film, atleast the ones availble through netflix. Started with Spirited Away, one of the best movie experiences I've ever had. Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, Porco Russo, absolutely loved them all. But unfortunately all good things must come to and end and I'm afraid I've seen almost everything he has to offer.

So what next for the Miyasaki fan? I've seen Steamboy, Grave of the Fireflies, Memories, Millennium Actress, Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, Appleseed, and Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society, all great movies. While I prefer English dubs, I'm not afraid to do some reading if the movie is good enough.

Coming up in my queue I have Tokyo Godfathers, Armitage III: Poly-Matrix, Case Closed: The Movie, and Tekkon Kinkreet. Suggestions, comments, reviews all welcome. I'd like to become more of an expert eventually but as of now I'm still a newb in the anime goodness.

P.S. If this is the wrong forum please forgive me and feel free to move it.

Kino's Journey.

Btw, have you read the Nausicca manga? It blows the anime totally out of the water.

Added to my queue, looks really promising. I'll probably get around to it b next Friday. As for that manga, I'll have to pick it up somewhere. Is it a pretty long series?

Have you seen Akira? Granted, the manga is much better, but the movie itself is pretty good too. By the man who also created "Steamboy".

As for anime forum, there isn't exactly one, but Vataro is using his journal for it. There's a thread there with a list of anime people have seen. Quite extensive ones.

I've seen Akira, must admit I got lost though, I'll probably have to watch it a couple more times to figure out what's going on lol.

Chobits is your favorite anime? Seriously? Personally I gave up after they dedicated an entire episode to Chi buying panties. I know it happened in the manga, but at least there it was a single chapter and not an entire 23 minute episode.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of CLAMP anime. When it comes to the manga I'm a die hard fangirl but the anime is really hit or miss. Some are amazing (CCS, rayearth) but others are complete crap (tokyo babylon, tsubasa, XXXholic...)

Didn't say anime, I meant manga. The series was pretty good too, but there are other animes I liked much more. It was the first manga I had ever read, so it's special to me :D

Watching Tekkon Kinkreet now, Ill edit with how I liked it. Also saw the trailer for Paprika and must say I'm more excited about that then Final Fantasy XI: Wings of the Goddess Smiley: laugh

EDIT: It was a nice movie, not one of my favorites though. I think I'll have to watch it again to understand it better.
