So are you excited?! Do you think having the LAST book and the 5th movie released w/in a week of each other will have negative or positive effects on one another?

Whilst I'm not a fan of Harry Potter (or Pooter as I mockingly call it), the two released shouldn't have negative impacts on each other. If anything, the hype generated by both mediums may generate more sales for both overall.

For the fans: enjoy. I just can't wait for this Potter stuff to end.

Don't bother; she's pre-occupied in FFXI at the moment. Besides, I can take her easy. :)

GRATS! I wish I had beaten that. XD but no.

But yeah, I'm super excited for both the book and the movie! I'm so sad it's ending though! Those books are some of the best reads ever!

I dont really have high expectations for it. I loved reading them, but after awhile it sort of turned me off. Why is every male adult an idiot, or evil? Even harry's dad tormented snape as a boy, and good lord, dumbledore was a staggering idiot, on the level of either obiwan or yoda, in "enabling" tom riddle. even professor lupin has to have a dark side.

it's a bit sad that snape is probably the most interesting character in the series. He's the one that actually has power and choice to act. Usually harry is led around the nose by the plot and his "destiny," with ron and hermione along for the ride. I'd like to see how she wraps the series up, but i wager it will either be too formulaic, or she'll do something to annoy her fanbase to no end

It's a good boost for the movie I'ld say. (and a movie based on what is easily the worst book of the series can use all the help it gets! personal opinion ofcourse)

Unfortunately, the book is released on Belgium's national holiday, there's no way I'm getting the book the 21st of July (well, going abroad to get it is always possible), otherwise I'ld do what I have done with the previous three too, get them as soon as they are out. Then spend a day reading.

Although the books themselves are not original, nor all that creative for that matter, they do read very fluently. Can't wait to see who lives and who dies. (and if Dumbledore is dead or not, or even dies again, who knows?)

So I'm expecting one of two possibilities. He either dies a martyr's death or replaces voldemort as a dark wizard.

I've thought similar things, however, watching interview's, and reading articles, I cannot see JK Rowling possibly letting Harry become the bad guy. She's got this whole good will triumph over evil thing goin' on.

Good will triumph, it's the basic theme of the books I'ld say.

I'm still thinking of what exactly is going to happen to Snape. Pretty much everyone believes that he is still good, maybe he killed Dumbledore or not, but he's one that is going to live imo.

Voldemort and Dumbledore die in book 7. (yes, Dumbledore again, most likely because he isn't dead, yet)

I haven't read the series since book four but my vote goes for Potter to die along with Voldemort.

After finding out that Voldemort is his brother and Dumberdore is the father of both.

Hmmm Snape, /sigh I wish to think that he's a good guy, BUT, I could definetly see her making him a bad guy, purely to point out that good ppl, ie Dumbledore, make mistakes. I don't believe Dumbledore is still alive either, I think he's really gone, 'cause remember his "sleeping picture" had appeared in his office.

Too much Revenge of the Sith.

I'm guessing Potter lives, Ron dies and Lil' Redhead too (his sister, forgot her name). The Harry falls madly in love with Hermione and Emma Watson who will be legal by the time they turn it into a movie will do her first nude sce--

What?!

Well, I just feel that she had Snape "kill" Dumbledore to make Harry hate him even more. But then he'll have to trust him in book 7 to get to Voldemort, that seems to be the level of depth that she puts in her plots. (now don't get me wrong, I do like the books a lot, but they are children's books and even for kids they are rather simplistic imo, not a bad thing but just an observation)

I'm not really sure about Dumbledore being dead or not, I doubt it a bit but if he did die, then it was a plan with Snape involved to bring down Voldemort in the end.

Even if Dumbledore is dead, it doesn't mean he didn't arrange it that way. Remember how he stuns Harry and how he pleads for his life, eventhough he told Harry that death was just another adventure?

But to go with the "Dumbledore is not dead" theory, why was Snape so eager to step in and prevent Malfoy from casting the Avada spell? Perhaps because he knew that Malfoy would succeed in casting it (you can only cast it if you really want to - and Malfoy wanted to save his father). Perhaps because Snape cast a different spell that didn't really kill Dumbledore.

As for the picture appearing in Dumbledore's office, also bear in mind that the pictures are "alive" and it would, to my knowledge, probably be possible to cast a transformation spell on them. Who says the picture is really one of Dumbledore and not just a fake?

Besides, as Tolkien proved with The Lord of the Rings, killing off the know-it-all and bringing him back even stronger had a pretty nice effect.

LOL... I found that really (disturbingly) amusing. :P

I'm EXTREMELY excited for the movie AND the book release. I got into the Harry Potter books a bit late but I blew through in a month or two once I started reading.

He's not quite dead!

Well, maybe, maybe not. JK can basically do whatever she wants with these books; she's far from writing herself into a corner. I'm going to take an agnostic point of view on who's going to live or die.

Okay, maybe he is dead.

Dumbledore is definitely dead, and the books seem to imply that he meant to die, and Snape is actually "good".

At this point in time everyone is so sure that Dumbledore's "death" wasn't completely in vain that a true plot twist would be if Snape was actually evil to the core.
