it's looking kinda hopeless. 20+ liches, zero drops. 50+ exorays, 1 drop. I don't have either /cry

I totally lucked out on the Exoray Mold when I got one from another party. I have seen it drop a few times partied with TH2.
The Bomb Coal is no big deal really. Just make sure the whm uses Barfira and that the drk knows exactly when to Stun, which would be when the Explosure readies Self-Destruct.
As for my Ancient Papyrus, I got it two nights ago. Myself, a 50 bard, and Cheeze, a 54 rdm, fought Lichs and Hell Hounds (just to clear the area) for approx. 30 minutes and we got the drop.

anyway, when i did genkai, i already got my mold from an exp party in Crawlers' Nest off of exorays we were killing.
when i tried to get papyrus, it was me(49 whm), 75 whm and 56 pld killing in eldieme. needless to say, we didn't kill them very fast. atleast it dropped a coffer for the pld. this went on for about 3 hours when we gave up.
next day, i got an genkai party and it was full of very nice JP people. it was just me and someone else that had to finish genkai and 4 other people. we went to CN first and got his mold after 5 kills, then went to eldieme.
in about 45 minutes papyrus dropped. i won the lot. another hour there, the jp player said lets go get bomb coal first, then come back for papyrus for the other guy.
we entered garlaige and just stayed past the first banishing gate. the 75 pld went ahead and after a few minutes 6 bomb coals were in the treasure pool. i have no idea what he did, but i got my bomb coal. then i had all 3 items. the last guy had pleanty of help already so they let me leave.

(congratulations!) everyone^^. Interesting that you guys can get multiple papers within the same hour. Today about 30 more kills and still no drops. Then a 70 pld helped me and killed 10 more. No dropps ; ;. So i'm up to 60 kills now and no drop /cry
Maybe I just have to keep at it. But it gets kind of frustrating with all the non drops because ppl in my PTs were yelling at each other and blaming deaths on one another. Can't stand it when that happens. This quest burns so many bridges and it's sad those people will need each other later for AF and more Genkai and won't want to help eachother /sigh. Well I'll keep you all updated, I think i'm setting some kind of record with most kills without drops =D. And Trix, I'd love to borrow another TH if you are free^^

GL with it i saw you shouting for help about it today..
I showed two BSTs in my Linkshell th way to the Explusre spot so they helped me get the item.
Then a couple of LS friends helped me get the other two items.

I too came across some awesome luck on my Genkai 1 items...the mold I obtained while in an EXP party in the nest, the other two items came, well, unexpectedly..
I simply received a tell from someone asking if I needed the items, so I said Paper and Coal, yes please.
Apparently the person who sent me a tell already had a 74 drk recruited to help us, so he/she was just filling the party, it took from midnight til 4:30am for everyone in the party to have everything they needed, passing out ensued.

yay my Genkai 1 is finally complete, and I guess I'll share my story now.
Up until today I have been involved in the killings of over 100 Liches, I'd say between 100-150 liches without ever seeing a drop. Well today I was in an alliance seeking the item and finally it dropped. Unfortunately I didn't win the lot ; ;. There were 7 people needing it and I came up short. We killed for a while longer and still no drop, and the PT started disbanding...
So I went to Jeuno and started shouting (and I rarely shout for anything, especially help with quests), but I was offering 20k, 25k, 30k, and then 50k for people willing to help me get the Papyrus. Well there were no takers ; ;
After having killed so many Liches and only seeing 1 drop which I didn't win the lot for and seeing that no one wanted to help me, I got very discouraged and thought about quitting the game b/c I was so frustrated with the drop rate.
I told Xiane that I felt like quitting and he said don't worry he can find someone to help me^^. Well he asked his LS which I'm not a part of and not many people interested in helping except for one. Eunhye, high lvl mnk/war agreed to help me for absolutely nothing, and I was given new life in the game again!
We went to Eldieme Necropolis and hours went by with drops of bone chips and other useless stuff. After the 2nd hour and about 30-40 Lich kills, I figured Eunhye was tired of doing this with no benefit to herself so I said it's ok if she want's to leave for today. However, she said no way and kept killing Liches. Finally, after 1 hour later and what felt like 50 Liches, the drop came!! I tried to offer money but Eunhye refused.
I was happy about the drop, yes, but what I was more happy about was there there were people like Eunhye in the game willing to devote precious hours just to help someone they didn't even know for free. The reason I am still playing this game is not because I got all the items for Genkai1, but because of people like Xiane and Eunhye who make the game worthwhile^^. Even though it's just a computer game, I feel there are many things I learned playing it.

Seriously though, it is the people who are willing to do things such as that, that keeps me enjoying the game, I've met a lot of kick arse people that are willing to help just for the sake of helping. I help when I can, and, I've had one person go as far as asking me why I'd help them when I've just met them..
(A friend of mine told me they were trying to get a skull for a lower level LS mate of theirs, I told him to tell this person to drop their Valkurm party and meet me in Konschtat).
I took him to Gusgen, and spent a good 45 minutes or so before getting him the drop. Anyways, my answer to his question was simple, I told him I was helping him because I enjoy helping people in game, people could progress a lot further by doing so.
His response to me was "I'm gonna help people out just like this when I can!" </cry>
