Every person that is on my friend's list are great players in my perspective which are mostly those I've met when I first started.
Not going in order from who is best or worst.
Xine - A wonderful Tarutaru who is way more than helpful in anything I need done even though I wish many times to do it myself. When I first joined the ls he was on, I volunteered, being a level 31-33 whm (can't remember) to help get his AF1. Since then I've been attached to his kindness towards others and high tolerance of many buttholish players.
Prospero - A hume male that continues to debate the PLD class with me every time I tease about the job unable to hold hate. :) (Not dissing the job, just find it funny to get him riled up) We've partied and he's showed me why PLD's deserve much respect and how they and WHM's go hand in hand.
Vandermast/Sotae - I met these two early on. When they shared a character then one split off to create his own. I've been with him (Vandermast) since he created and loved every moment he's been in a pt with me assisting on missions, quests, or fighting.
Both are very very kind.
JayHeart - I love this Mithra. Again, at a low level. I pulled him from pre 15 all the way to 20 I belief in the Thief class in Dunes. He's someone that is willing to help others and go out of his way. I've never had a conflict with him and consider this kid a gem.
Kardis - Younger brother to Prospero who I am also very attached two. When our ls broke up, I attempted to keep our relationship going by creating a new ls so I can still talk to him on a regular basis. The LS didn't take off so well but eh stuff happens. I follow this guy, his brother, and Xine nearly everywhere they go and will not let too much time go by without saying anything.
(i'm writting too much about these people but others need to be informed how great they are.)
Maynardkeenan - OH man. XD It trips me out how helpful, generous, and kind this guy is. When I was newbie for everything I needed, crag crystals, adv jobs, missions, farming, synthing. And I couldn't choco or teleport, he walked with me or took the ship! This was before I knew they had airships which I abuse for riding too often. :) He's constantly guiding new players with easy into the game. Every time I see him, he's with another new player. I believe he's the one that made 'helping the newbies' grow on me so I return the favor by helping others.
Valkyr - *hug hug hug* When finding a new ls before meeting many others, I encounter this one at a crag advertising for members in bazaar comment. They helped me retrive my Kahzam keys and since then I cronically check up to see how things are going. Too funny :)
Brallic & Butch - LOL Met them when pting with OgBass and I have to say, even though he wasn't the person I'd consider great, it was because of him I formed a bond with the other two. They, good players do, help more than what's minimum in some other's eyes. They were more tolerant to his blatherings than I was.
JamesFK - I cannot remember when I first met him, but since then I've been crazy about this boy. When he's excited, I'm excited. When he's mining, which can be boring some times, I will put my plans on pause to go join him. He's always been there when things turn a little sour but this PLD is one of the #1's in my list and will continue to be so.
Alwaysready and Shenlong (Sylph) - The first server I played on before moving to midgar. These two made the game to what seemed like a soul sucker into something more than that. I didn't realize at the time when I moved how special they were until the same treatment was given to me by others. I've tried my best to keep in touch with them to know how about their accomplishments and thrillseeking in this game.

Hmmm... only two I can really think of off the top of my head would have to be: Joelthewanderer, Somajan, and Haplo.
Joel's been a big help to me, always answering any question or helping me out. Soma's helped me with so many missions and quests, he's really a great guy. And Haplo....well, he's Haplo ^^. Seriously though, he's another one who doesn't mind answering an questions I have.

Ok i couldnt resist and I have to add a few players that are the best ever!
First I'd like to thank Leitmotif and Xerohaze for being the best drk and sam ever I wouldnt be the whm I am today if not for them. I'd also like to thank Fluffybear and Femtos and all the rest from their linkshell. Regardless of what everyone is saying they have always been nice to me. Tantross and Berrykins too.
Of course I cant forget the wonderful people of RDA (RedDragonArmy). I dont need to go into names they know who they are!

Gokusan - helped me out when i first started, i was sooo confused when i started, stood in sandy and shouted for a little help and he came up and helped me out, gave me some hints, etc. we always talk if we pass each other. Heck of a nice guy.
Torba(not sure of exact spelling) - high lvl rdm who helped me get the ghelsba key for my kaz pass. Terribly nice, and was very helpful.

I have to mention two people who helped me get my paper even though we had never met before: Gozita and Suupairingo

Ragnarokvii - Thanks for teleporting me for free when I only had 300 gil. With that 300 gil, I was able to buy some insect paste and fish up some moats. Such a little thing but thats how I started making gil and it keeps on going... /bow

One example: After being helped one day by a stranger, I asked him what I could do to pay him back. He said to "Pay it Forward".

I actually clicked on this thread to say how cool Ozzriel is. He helped me when I was a poor face-down-in-the-dirt Taru in the mines trying to get my magicked skull for the subjob quest... I'd never met him before.. he killed all the monsters around me.. found a raise for me.. and helped my friends kill ghouls for about an hour til i got my skull... and he's checked in on me several times since then.. asking if i needed help with anything... grade A person right there... Winifred approves :-)
Shinkzuco, who is in my LS, is also a HUGE help.. any time I need help with ANYTHING, he is willing to drop whatever it is he's doing to come to my aide.
There is also a very special lady who knows who she is.. but I'm not going to mention her here b/c she gave her character to her roomate... and i don't know if her roomate is playing the character with the same integrity.

Naphtali- for being my static partner for my low lev jobs even though he could lev his own job
Milt- He's helped me a lot especially with my AF1 when I had absolutly no idea what was going on.
Xmouse- who tried to help me with my RSE but it turned out we were hunting for house for a key and it was the wrong day :(, thanx for your patience.

Ahh so many people come and gone but these are some that i will always remember

Prudan- A total machine when it comes to thf and always helping me fun guy and very nice.
Valar- This guy has got to be THE best pld i know but he'll never take credit for it always helping his LS even though he may not want to.
Irii- Good pld and a good friend always willing to hang out and show that she cared as a friend.
Lordjopa- Kinda unfair to put him in there because he's my brother but he's a good blm maybe not up to date but he'll still deliver.
