I hope things are calming down for you now, Fyn. *cookies!*
Sort of. (I did nab Pokemon X, at any rate; it's pretty bitchin and finally helps justify my purchase of a 3DS some time back)
To attempt to make a long story short(er), a recent checkup at the doctor revealed that I have some abnormal hormone levels, specifically low testosterone. (What a shocker, right?)
Hassles lately have come in two forms. One, had to get a brain MRI to make sure that there isn't any sort of aberration causing the out of whack hormones. It turns out, there might be -- I have a small growth on the pituitary gland that normally wouldn't be any cause for concern, but since the hormones were already determined to be messed up, I'm having to go see an endocrinologist to get it looked into further. But, getting an appointment for one of these is a real drag around here, and I might not be able to see one until December.
Two, my mom didn't want me waiting that long for treatment, and wanted me to start on it asap. Turns out, thanks to being jobless, my insurance totally sucks and pretty much doesn't cover any drugs that aren't antibiotics. So after getting the runaround from our Local Friendly Pharmacy and still not ending up with the testosterone gel we were trying to get (because without coverage it would have cost somewhere around 400 bucks) I am instead getting monthly testosterone shots for a much more reasonable price, the first of which I got a couple of days ago.
I don't even really know if this treatment is going to be something that I'll have wanted in the end. I have had persisting problems with low/fluctuating mood, energy, and motivation, and these things can potentially be caused by low testosterone. On the other hand, almost all the... other effects of testosterone (that it's probably more well-known for) are things that I don't exactly want to mess with. So, I dunno. It could be some time before I even see any effect whatsoever, so I'm just waiting and seeing at this point. Edited, Oct 27th 2013 9:39am by Fynlar
