Ok i was going to help my friend kill him thinking it would be pretty easy. Well i let carby out and then retreted to a safer place. I hit assult and then was about to attack and when i missed i got hate got hit for 104 and got drained for 477. I died but when i came back and had de-lvled i had 581 exact so that means that shouldnt have been a 1 hit KO. My friend then had to deal with him and got hit with water 3 and two hits all that damage to him added to 300 something and he died....now he has 700 HP. IM just wondering what happened. The GM did nothing but say file a report. Is there some reason that he can kill you without taking all your HP?
I'm not entirely certain of this but when you drain hp from a monster, not all the damage is always shown.
This is especially true for the spell Drain where if the caster is at full health, drain will report 0 damage done but yet, you can still visibly see damage done or actually kill something with a "0 hp" drain.
If Miser Murphy's en-drain works the same way, its possible that the damage he does from draining you won't show up; it will only show the amount of hp he can actually recover from the en-drain effect.

Word of advice: Taking straight hits from Murphy is EXTREMELY foolish and dangerous.
Miser Murphy likes to spam Curse alot, that reduces max hp by a considerable amount. Perhaps you were cursed?
Drain effects only show the amount of HP that is recovered by the attack (this applies to both Drain spells and "Endrain" effects, like what Bloody Bolts or the DRK 2hr Blood Weapon do).
Miser Murphy has an outrageously strong Endrain effect, so chances are it was doing far more actual damage than what the log will show you.

I didnt want to take a direct hit i thought carby had enough hate but when i engaged i got hate all of a sudden at got attacked. Carby hit him once or twice so i shouldnt have gotten hate from engaging. The drain thing may be true i was thinking about that. That still doesnt explain how my friend died he only got hit normally and with a spell. I dont believe we were cursed because i saw no spells but Water III after my death were casted.

Okay, well on a serious note maybe you hit a lag spike and didn't see everything? I don't know. Also hate can be a fickle thing, it ebbs and flows easily. Who knows what caused you to get hate, it could have been a number of things. I wasn't there to see what happened to give you any concrete answers and your analysis isn't very descriptive. I've had a few experiences with Murphy, on my other char I duo'd him with a RDM 75. Then to help some people I've been a few times on my BRD.
Murphy's drain is hardcore, i've seen it pwn a Paladin 75 before, but i've also seen a monk tank him.

Me and Chaosbelow(66smn) were messing around in Fei'yin when this guy popped. We decided to have some fun and try to take him on. Needless to say I got slaughtered easily, took me down in about 5-6 hits, chaos ran away like a sissy and left my body there >.>

possibly the absolute funniest thing I've heard all decade. MM is not easy. He is the indisputable spawn of satan who has risen from hell only to laugh in the face of lv 75 alliances.
