Ok I don't have any idea what happened, but in the past week or less the prices on AH have jumped like it is their job. I want to know why this happened, and seriously, it better not be because people are greedy.

-Scorpion Harness: 7.2mil to 11mil
-Haubergeon: 6.5mil to 12mil
-Ochiudo's Kote: 6mil to 8mil (not just the RMT)
-Sniper's ring: 2.5mil to 4.5mil
-Petrified logs: 30k to 100k
-Ancient Lumber x12: 300k to 1mil

All this happened in about 3 days, i know there are more things that have risen like this, but this are the only ones I am very familiar with. I'll edit more stuff in the future if i need to.

What I want to know is what happened, did SE change something, are people getting REALLY greedy, are people running out of seals for BC, WHAT?!

word on the street is that gil prices were cut drastically on RMT sites to offer "christmas specials." now everyone, and their mother and their grandmother, is getting a holiday treat of purchased gil and causing rediculous inflation.

i should add: everyone's father and grandfather are also buying gil now. (not just the ladies)

Don't blame the products, blame the ingredients. All of the main ingredients in those recipes went up, and thus the crafters had to adapt.

I understand that if ingredients go up in price, that the product will too, but the question is WHY did the prices go up.

Alot of servers across the board have had the same complaint about the abrupt price hike. As it was already stated, one of the large RMT sites drastically cut gil prices. A possibility could be that many people who usually farm for much of the crafters materials took advantage of the sale, took a break from their usual farming activity and purchased the gil to finally buy that <insert ridiculously expensive item> that they have been wanting to purchase.

Hopefully the sale is now over and if that was truly the cause, that said items drop back down to their already high-enough prices...

IGE is offering 1mil for 5 bucks. Thats the problem. As for materials going up, hell ya they are. Just look at Amemet skins just went from 400 > 700 > 900k and people are buying. I bet those RMT are rolling with laughter that so many idiots just bought their gil to give it right back to them.

I just replied to a thread on a different server regarding inflation. I copied my reply here since it seems to fit ..kinda o.O. They were blaming the sellers, and buyers for inflation and everyone blames the gillsellers lol. This is who i feel is really responsible.

"The problem, which is inflation, is a product of too much money in the economy. People now have more money then ever before so sellers can ask for higher prices..and get them. The solution is to find ways to take money out of the economy. This is where SE has been ,ineffective, irresponsible or intentionally (immoraly) absent.

For example, I dont understand why SE lets people dodge taxes by creating bazaars outside jueno. Millions could be taken out of the system everytime a high dollar piece of gear is sold. they should make taxes regional or inescapable. Also, for YEARS SE has let people grow producst such as ice ore, which yeild particular 2nd best items (leaves) that can be sold to NPC's for millions of gil per crop. This is money coming into the game at a huge rate, especially since the secret recipe hit the forums a year ago.

So you can blame the seller for raising prices, or the buyer for paying them, ore even the gillsellers, but the cycle continues since you cant control how they spend their vast accumulating amounts of gil. (relative to 1 year ago).

On the topic of gilfarmers/buyers: how do they fit? I cant say exaclty but it became obvious to everyone that they do affect the economy in a negative way. The crazy Christmas inflation is proof to me. Regardless, its only becuase they can take advantage of a flawed system and stock pile gil. This is unless they can create gil electronically.

If SE doesnt fix the inflation, i must assume they are profiting off of it... and you know what that means.

Just my 2 cents. "

I agree completely, Baccus. It's things like that that make me wonder if the RMT groups and SE aren't in league with each other.

One idea is to have a bazaar tax outside of jeuno. maybe 5% on the zones surrounding jeuno? the only way you should have 0 tax from a bazaar is if you are headquartered in your home natiion.

The Haubergeon has actually went down 2 mil to 10mil now... hopefully it continues to get back down 4-5mil more >.<

What people should do instead is stop buying the armor/accessories/ingredients for a high price, and crafters lower the price of their products as people buy their's for less... the bad thing about that though is that your time will be wasted, waiting for it to drop in price while no one buys the armor for these 'outrageous' prices..

Truth be told, I saw this coming. I went ahead and bought most of the gear i needed until 60 or so. But I have a feeling that once all the gil starts circulating properly again, the price should return to normal. So just hold out a month before buying that Hauby.

Darksteel Ore jumped up from 30k to 60k. It really pisses me off because that means I can't make Darksteel Ingots at a profit anymore. You can also add Austere Robe to that list. It was like 600k a week ago; I paid 1.06mil for mine. -.-

Welcome to the Xbox 360 generation of Lakshmi. If anyone was a player on PC from the release date, they can remember this same thing happening around the release of the PS2 version. Prices doubled around that time as well.

Some people did that to Igqira body too. One was bought 9 millions, then got sold back 10, and the person who bought it 10 sold it back 12 millions ^.^

I'm personally interested in the item, which I saved gil for about 2 months ( a part of it went to other things as well ), and just when I was about to have enough, the price doubles!

Retiring black mages and greedy *** holes jacking the prices, I'm sorry, but I'll just wait untill I get a Dragon Talon and get mine crafted. Oh, and go to hell if you fall in the latter category.

Note : Crystals price went ...down?

Eh, I look at it this way. I got my hauby months ago for 4.25mil, now when I go to trade it in for a hauberk when I hit 69 i'll have a hefty wallet...

....

unlike usually.

Anyways, so far only evidence I have against gil-sellers is that sale thing at ige. As for the prices themselves? That would be the fault of our fellow Lakshmians(however you spell that.)

OR...

You could hold off about 2 weeks to get that thing that you really want to see if prices go back down, if people realise that they arn't selling their item, and have to keep paying the AH Fee's, they will eventually make it cheaper....

I saw this coming too. I decided before the chrismas sale I would spend every last dime I had on some of the common items. Bought a couple sniper rings, couple astrals, leaping boots, and Haubergeon. Figured if I was lucky I would get maybe a million or a little more, after buying them and selling them all back I make roughly 10 million profit. Now just have to wait for everything to go back down. :)
