WTF can my /blist get any longer?
all I can say is thank Altona for blacklist.
I would filter shouts all together but I'm a WHM so I look for ppl that need teleports. I don't spam shout my taxi service I just wait for shouts now.
Is there nothing we can do?

You can try ignoring their shouts.
OR!!
Try using your service in San D'oria or Windurst. They are hurting for teleport service

I've seen casinos set up in San d'Oria already, and this was a couple weeks ago. I'm sure Windurst Woods will soon have a casino or two, if it doesn't already have one. Just last week, I saw someone shouting to advertise their casino in Yhoator Jungle. Yhoator Jungle!

Rather than black-list all those potential future party leaders, why not just turn on the shout filter while you're in town?

Personally not interested in partying with anyone prepared to make equipment by gambling. It's igenuity and entrepeneur like but still in my opinion a very bad way to make money and a very very annoying way of advertising for a clientel.

Saying that im Black Mage and party invites are somewhat easier for me.

I mean is it this bad on other servers I don't even bother with Lower Jeuno anymore.

Two people in my LS people I've known for a long time both run one and I can't convince them just how bad they are.

SE needs to make it part of the game open up a real casino.

o boy, im afraid i might get rated down on this one...

so is the reason everyone is opposed to this is because people do it to make money instead of farming or w/e? i do run a casino on my mule that i (honestly) don't use for money. why do i do it? because its fun! why do people use it? because its fun! think about it this way: why do normal people gamble in rl? its not to get rich, its to have fun. (excluding the drunkards and gambling addicts of the world - im not so sure they do it just for fun) - my dad gambles every other week with his friends. he does this for fun. most of the people who use my small casino (100 gil-5k gil -> not much money making potential there) say "wow, this is fun" or something like that. its something i only do while im boneworking, cause crafting for a couple hours gets boring by itself. most people only bet 100 gil - something that they can do 5+ times even if they lose every time, and have fun doing it. so i agree that those who do this as a "get rich for doing nothing" scheme are wrong, but i dont see anything bad about doing it just to have fun. *braces for karma impact*

edit: id like to add that i do have a macro to advertise this casino, but IMHO its a well-thought out macro that ppl have complemented me on, and i only hit the macro once every 2 mins (part of the macro is /wait 60, /wait 60, /echo Casino macro finished!).

I think if people choose to gamble, or to set up a casino, it's up to them. But it becomes quite different when other people are affected by it. Lower Jeuno doesn't need any more spam than it already has. IRL? I don't know what it's like over at your place, but over here, there aren't any casino solicitors running around the shopping centres shouting out their game rules and winning requirements.

I stay in Lower Jeuno for long periods of times to listen out for shouts. I try my best to look out for certain things, like avatar quest members, SleepgaII quest members and Mission shouts. A casino shout once every two minutes is something I consider to be a nuisance, simply because I don't ever have the intention to partake in that kind of thing. It's a pain to sift through all the talking and the spamming. Hence, I'm sorry, but as much as you have a right to set up a casino business, I have an equal right to blacklist you. Which is something I probably have already done, considering the size of my blacklist.

I got bored today while lvling my enhancing magic and decided to try my hand at running a casino. I figured I'd do it in Port Jeuno since there are less shouts there, and I was headed to Kazham anyway. I set a simple, 2-line macro.

/sh Wiseguy's Casino! Roll 600+ Double your bet. All bets accepted.
/sh Here at <pos>. Come try your luck now!

Nothing truly annoying. I only used it twice...everytime I ran out of mp. I have 338 at the moment, so there was about 2 minutes between shouts. Well, I got one customer in port. They came over and bet 4k. As luck would have it, they won :-( Being someone that likes to keep a good reputation, and not to mention it was the right thing to do, I paid the player. They ended up playing again while we waited for the airship. I got 2k back from that.

Later on I did the same thing in Lower Jeuno infront of MH. I got one more customer. They bet 1 gil (lmao) and won. She continued betting her winnings. Eventually I ended up on top with 50 gil. At the end of the day I actually lost 1450. But it was cool.

During that whole time, I had one person give me any complaint. The entirety of their comment was that I was being blisted. My reply was thank you. Personally, I don't mind being blisted. If we have a difference of oppinion on something, and you think we can't get along, then by all means blist me. I'll even give you instructions on how to do it. I'm not tryiing to be an A$$ by any means. I just think that people who don't get along should be able to ignore each other. I, personally, don't black list anyone because I like to leave my options open. If anything gets really annoying, I'll just turn on my /shout or /say filters. You'd be surprised at how peaceful Lower Jeuno is with the shouts filtered out.

As far as running the casino again, i don't really think I'll be doing it again. It was interesting, and kinda fun waiting for the roll. But I have more important things to spend my time on (like levelling my skills). But to other casinos out there: I don't think there's anything wrong with what you're doing. Just please keep the shouts to a decent amount.

Note: Please don't rate me down for sharing a one-time experience. ^^

I ran a casino for 2 days, but I have seen the error of my ways. If I am on your B-List, I hope you will remove me^^

Its a thrill, but Casino's are ruining some zones, and I'm sorry I ever had one.

i feel for you, why should i have to shut off my chat filters because ppl want to spam... i like looking at all the neat quests ppl are trying to do... i like helping kill the dragon for 2-3 (i'm still low lvl, so there ain't much i can help with), but now... i go into jeuno and turn off shout, and i haven't helped with a single quest since... whos loss is it... i feel its mine.. for the ones looking for help, well its their loss...

its like saying, you don't like pan-handlers, stay in your house...

its easier to ignore a problem then come up with a solution.. and if you ever think of one, don't post it, cause all it did was get me rated down...

as a note though: if you could get everyone to spam the casinos with fake bets they would close... no if/ands/butts...

*you know who rates this one down... the casino-spammers! =) do your worst... i love it!
