Hunting employed GilFarmers, Lets take our server back.Follow

#1 Sep 10 2004 at 11:56 AM Rating: Good
Ok This post if for anyone who "hates" the employed gilfarmers starting to ruin Lakshmi. These are the people we all have heard about and most have seen. They don't lvl. They don't help anyone out. They don't communicate. They make it hard for all the noobies to make a little money and they hunt the NM's 24/7. If you don't like these people and want to make a differance, and liberate Lakshmi of these people, please send me a tell when your online or post here and I'll give you one of LS dedicated to this. The LS is out for vengence. The only way we can stop these types of people will be to hunt them down and "Out Farm" them. If they don't make money then they won't be employed anymore.

PLEASE ALL WHO ARE SERIOUS contact me. LAKSHMI UNITE!

Thanks,
Dragonsoul

I would love too, But I don't think there will be many other players who will join/support this. I don't like them because as a ranger I need the leaping boot's and emp hairpin. But with all the gil farmers it makes this task even harder >.<

So I'll join and help any way I can being that I was going to take the next few weeks off of lvling to get the items and gil I need to take ranger too lvl 75.

There will be no violating "TOS". This LS is dedicated to just "Out Farming" these people.

1. Find'em
2. Gather available LS members
3. Out Farm

thats all we plan to do. If your online and not doing anything or feel like ruining a Gilfarmers day, just pop in the LS and see whats going on at the time. Trust me i value my character just as much as anyone else, and would not want to violate TOS.

I just want our server back that all! ^^

This LS is just starting and very serious about the topic. We plan to grow and with enough members we can take our server back.

The problem lies in the existence of a market for selling gil.

It doesn't matter how well you out-farm them, or how many of them you cause to get fired for "not meeting their quotas".

As long as there is a willing market of people ready and willing to pay their real money for online gil, the gil farmers will persist. They may not be the same players behind the characters, but the businesses they work for will go on.

You will not be able to drive the companies that sell gil out of business by actions you take in-game.
The only cure for that is to somehow eliminate the market they cater to.

As I've said elsewhere, it's not entirely unlike prostitution.

People can rant and rail about how evil prostitutes contribute to society's moral decay; but as long as there are customers, the business will continue.

So... who's fault is it that the gil farmers exist?
The evil greedy presidents of the gil-selling companies,
or the lazy people who support them and give them a reason to be?

In another post I suggested a way of getting rid of Teleport gil farmers. No one seemed to have any interest in it. Your Linkshell should put a big effort into getting others to blacklist these Teleport gil farmers. If Linkshell after Linkshell started blacklisting them, they'd run out of business REAL fast.

Is Leox a Teleport gil farmer or is he just retarded?

I'm up for this. I realize we won't be able to eliminate the gil merchants as long as gil buyers exist. But there's a certain amount of catharsis with every Stroper Chyme I manage to voke before the gil merchants can ;)

When I was Farming/NM Hunting in Davoi I put a halt to the gilsellers in there on 2 NMs (sometimes 3). Eventually they started trying to MPK me though so I left.

Leox, Baobao, Mither, Whitemag, Hisisy, Bokeli. All gil farmers.

I ran Baobao out of Beadeaux this morning by training Quadav's and cutting off his Ooze supply. I have to agree though that outfarming them will take enormous effort and will probably not have that big an impact as long as pathetic losers keep buying gil. I have talked to GM's on a couple occasions and they take no action besides telling me that Square-Enix's legal team is 'looking into it.' It's a tough issue but they better get on it fast because it will destroy the game. The prices of items in this game are outrageous enough already.

OK so you guys know Hisisy isn't a gil farmer he is in one of my LSs and can bea good guy. He just likes to make a lot of gil off of teleporting.

    Not all "gilfarmers" are "evil."

For instance, Bokeli and Hisisy are nice people and you can trust them to give you a teleport. (They won't take your money and not give you a teleport.) In fact, many a times, they start casting teleport before you even trade money. So... in actuality, you have the ability to take advantage of their services since they won't ask you to pay. They've never asked me to pay, but I do it anyway.

Now don't get me wrong, there are some pretty evil gilfarmers. My problem is the people that hunt the Stroper Chyme. I posted my complaint a while ago on some different thread... but to recall, I do not like them because they trained a bunch of enemies to distort the competition. ~.~ (I hope I used distort in the proper way lol) So, I didn't like that because they were CHEATING. That's evil and it's CHEATING. I personally don't mind if they're always there because it'll guarantee the availability of archer's rings. BUT. That's just being selfish to try and mess up the competition. (Oh and I think that if you want to stop them from getting the ring all the time, you should get a group of people and stand where they stand and just provoke. It'll make it equal and you will probably snag the Stroper Chyme 50% of the time that they normally would.)

On another note, some "Chinese gilfarmers" are nice. I remember one time in Rabao, this little tarutaru named Ironforge went up to me waved. I was confused because I didn't know who he was... so I did a /huh and he sent me a tell saying I was beautiful lol. (Probably meant as in my taru.) So he ended up telling me he was Chinese and I just thought he was a regular player. I gave him a pearl and he is now in my LS lol. I see him on constantly... but he never talks. So... I'm guessing he's a gilfarmer through moat carp selling. Or... maybe he doesn't understand English.

(Dude, I can't believe the freaking update gimped Rabao >.< That totally sucks. I was making my living off of moat carp fishing lol. ;_; sigh.)

    Ok where was I... lol I forgot. You know what, I'll stop ranting. {See you again!}

Aside from the general problem created by gil sales, I would much rather see gil merchants trying to make their gil by Teleport services than by NM hunting / mining / etc. Players have a choice on who they get their Teleports from. So if we, as a community, decide to boycott gil merchants, we can just avoid the Teleporters that we suspect support that industry. We don't have that choice with gil merchants who raise gil through the other activities.

I would think that the 24/7 camping of Stroper Chyme by one group hasn't increased the supply of Archer's Rings by any significant amount. Since it's such a high value drop from a very predictable spawn, Stroper Chyme would be camped nearly 24/7 once you factor in all the different players who would camp it though out the day. However, since we now have one group that controls a majority of the market on Archer's Rings, the price of Archer's Rings is easily manipulated to the benefit of the sellers. Even if Archer's Ring was more available than it was before, is that necessarily a good thing if the price of it has gone up 25 to 30 percent?

Just FYI there is already an anit-gilfarming LS in Lakshmi
I raised the issue over in the VN Boards awhile back

    PestControlINC

    Miront is sackhold
    Xstatic Pearlsack
Nictius Pearsack (spelling? cant remeber if its spelled right)
    I have pearlsack
Thats all who I can remember off the top of my head

Contact someone if you wish to join. The general idea is to go outfarm their favorite areas, or outcamp their favorite NM's No training or other violations of TOS are to be done.

I dont think much has been done to date -_-

Its hard to get everyone organized to go raise a little hell

I think the price on the Archer's ring depends on the consumer because, if people refuse to buy them, then the gilfarmers' supply won't sell. (Oh! -light bulb- Idea! lol)

One idea to "destroy" the market of the Stroper Chyme gilfarmers is to stop buying archer's rings from the AH. Possibly... try selling them in a bazaar by the guild or in a different AH so we can distinctify the difference between the gilfarmers and people who aren't. However, I doubt everyone in the server will follow that plan. -sigh-

Hmmm... I guess I rest my case... for now... o.O

Here's a web page that someone posted in the general forum. It has a lot of the 'gil farmers' per server.

    http://www.geocities.jp/oisu_ff/

I saw a bunch of Kof*s on last night in the dunes so maybe they have expanded from Fairy. I can't read the text (Japanese?).

Sure. One person can stop buying archer's rings from the AH. But there will always be people out there who will pay those insane prices and ruin the boycot. The only way a boycot works is solidarity, and such a thing won't happen unless it's forced. And... we've no way of forcing it.
