What job is most needed?Follow

I want to know your opinions about this: Which job do you think is the most unplayed and do we need more players filling it?

Mages and bards come to mind rather quickly. Everytime I whip out my BRD a lot of people go: Wow a BRD and grab me...

Ok I saw a lot Brd/Thf that didnt get picked before me.... I wonder why... I even saw Brd/Nin (a little bit better than Brd/Thf) and Brd/War

Summoners? I havent seen a lot lately... I loved the blue little Carbuncle for pulling and nothing spells blink tanking like Garuda for a PLD.

So what do you think?

I will agree with that, I havent seen many Brd's in my pt's lately except for high lvl JP's. I think that might be one that needs to be focused on, also I have been seeing some SMN's show up. I am willing to do it if someone is more than willing to help me get my really cool looking avitars /wink wink *nudge nudge*

The list varies acording to level. There are more BRD's kicking around the lower levels, just kind of playing around, same with alot of other jobs. From what I have seen the most needed jobs post 40 would be

RDM~Refresh at 41, nuff said, and their excellent array of debuffs

BRD~Again refresh ability (ballad), and a whole host of other nifty group buffs, as well as some good debuffs. BRD is an undersung hero at the best of times, due to mostly ignaorance, alot of people will place RDM (Refresh) over BRD, as refresh is better up to LVL 55 <?> when BRD get balladII, and after that people still tend to think RDM first out of habit.

WHM~While RDM *can* act as a main healer, its often much more plausable and convieniant to use a WHM, as they are simply better.

This list is by no means in any particular order, but I would have to say that RDM tends to take the lead a little more. Parties again, the *optimun* most efficient party set up would tend to dictate the "most needed" and as there are afew jobs absultly needed to form teh "best" party.

Alot of people prefer melee combat over mage/brd support, that and there are jsut more melee jobs to choose from, making mage/brd a little harder to come by.

SMN has a bad rap, they have useful abilities, but are not a very good contributer in the "best" setup. While blink and enthunder group buffs are nice, I would rather have a BRD or RDM in their place as I personally have had SMN parties that have much more downtime with a SMN than a BRD or RDM.

Basically party will look like this

WHM
RDM <BRD> but RDM will more often take precidence over BRD
PLD
BLM
RNG,BLM
Any other heavy DMG player, or RDM & BRD scenario only if the DD roles are filled out nicely with BLM or RNG

===EDIT===There are many variables affecting this as well, some times at any given level there is a surplus of any "needed" job,.

Two jobs come to mind right away:

1: Bard: Probably the most needed by far. Most ppl seem too agree. Hardly any Bards in party's these days, yet they are the best supporting character in my opinion. If your in a smart party, a Bard will get picked over a rdm post lvl 55, because of various abilities that benefit the meeles, and of course ballad II, but Bards should get picked over rdm in post 40 pt. Sorry Red Mages :(.

2: Samurai: Why? Well, this may not seem like a very needed job, but the Skill Chain combos that this job can contribute are substantial. This job is also a good damage dealer, but is more well known for the TP job abilities and passive job traits. I always try to have one in my party's these days.

Thats what I think we need more of these days. Lots of BLM, WHM, and RDM out there in my opinion, along with PLD, DRK, and THF characters. All depends on how you assemble a party though.

BRD is probably the hardest player to find when trying to put together a party. I have a feeling that any job that tends to contribute healing in some fashion is hard to find simply because these players feel they have to hide in /anon mode when they aren't seeking. The WHMs in my LS complain quite often about being asked by random strangers to PL them. I can imagine that RDMs, BLM/WHMs, BRD/WHMs and SMN/WHMs also have the same problem.

I'd hate to label any job as being a high-demand job though. I just hate the thought of seeing more Diva players out there.

I took my RDM to Valkurm yesterday.... Big mistake... I got 4 invites to PL people (and Im only lvl 30)

As for Bard I think I will stick to the path of the unsung hero. My record time for getting a invite (fastest) is about 10 seconds after I put flag up.

Longest: 5 minutes.

I still see a lot of Bards with only 1 instrument (usually a piccolo) and I even saw one wearing Sardonyx rings O.o We get a sword and all... but +CHR would seem the very least, and giving +2 STR to ourselves isnt going to help much. I think last time I meleed (using a small sword) I hit for the phenomenal amount of 4-5 on a clipper (while the PLD hit for 7-8 and the DRK in the 20s+) (not real numbers but comparison wise)

Besides im too busy to melee. If im not running from point A to B to keep the buffs and debuffs up something is wrong or the mob is dead or im dead. Horde and Foe Lullaby saved and killed me a number of times. Goblin Smithy is asleep... War hits Gob Smithy... Gob Smithy is no longer asleep... Gob Smithy cuts up BRD

Hands down, Bard.

I think what a bard can contribute really is quite substantial to a party's efficiency. Melee songs, mage songs, everyone's happy. I've also noticed that when we have a BRD in party, we're able to exp on mobs that a PT without a BRD would have a little trouble with. It does make a pretty big difference. However, being a BLM, getting a BRD and RDM usually means no WHM (( and no Raise II or III )) for any of us. ._.;

It'd be nice to have more Bards around, I think... but it's just not a job that everyone can be interested in. For me, I tried my hand at it, I have a BRD11 to my name. I had a mini-set PT for her, but plans fell through and I just didn't feel like going on. o.O; So.. yeah. Bards, bards, bards!

> It'd be nice to have more Bards around, I think...

Depending on the time of day you play, and what languages you speak, and what level you are... Lakshmi has a TON of Bards. Seriously; I'm not joking.

I jumped online last evening and did my usual /seal all BRD 65-68 and I saw not the perceived "Few" Bards, but rather THIRTEEN.

That isn't even counting all te /anon Bards out there.

Overall though, I'd have to say that I prefer looking for teh following classes in this order:

BRD
RDM
BLM
NIN
PLD
WAR

Etc. Once a tank type is chosen, you base the rest of your party around it. Supports work well with ALL parties, but MP equals longevity; thus, BRD and RDM top my list.

You'll note that I dont' typically seek WHMs. This is for a very specific reason: I don't plan on being killed, and a BRD/RDM/BLM combo is far more effective than adding a WHM in the mix. There are a handful of things people XP on that will mandate a WHM in place of one of those three, but for the most part, barring mind-boggling defeats.. I don't find a WHM in my party to be terribly useful.

Then again, I make every effort to party with Neeenja, which makes for a very, very bored WHM, and a slot that could be better used. Not that I don't love WHMs, mind you :)

It will be interesting how neenja fair in teh patch. Blink tanks arn't very great when all their shadow are wiped out ; ;

Well... lets see.

1. More white mages in the dunes.

Yeah, that should cover it.

Now, I haven't been fortunate (( or unfortunate? )) enough to see something like *that*. @.@; On the times I play, there are usually one or two Bards on seek, and usually snapped up in a matter of minutes. So you can understand why I said that. ^^

As for the BLM/RDM/BRD combo, yes, it is indeed effective, and no one really plans on dying... However, I do happen to be in a semi-set PT with my PLD friend and mistakes do happen. I really don't like seeing him die, only to receive a Raise I. x.X; Other than that, I do so love that combo simply because Ballad + Refresh + other MP regenning tools = a whole lot of MP per tic. That'd make any BLM happy, I say! ^^

Summoners are hard to find...and let me tell you, Ifrit does really well as tank in the beginning...but I love pt'ing with BRD/WHM's. I wish there were more of them around.

scarily enough I was considering playing Bard just for something different.. but out of the jobs I've tried so far I always come back to WHM..

or BST when I want to be left alone. :-P

We paladins are definitely needed, I always get tons of invites even when I'm in some remote place no where close to any leveling areas. Often, when I leave a party I hear "well I guess we have to disband." I think this is because post-lvl 30 (I am lvl 40 right now) few people stuck with war. Many people became drks, sams, drgs, etc.

Paladins are not seen as being as cool... sure you get the armor and all but you don't do much damage and you mostly heal yourself.

Whms and Blms are definitely needed as well.

I guess it cheers me to keep on singing! (wait my voice is sooooooo ugly) *puts a flute there* Ah bliss!

I wish SE had spent more time on the BRDs voices (well singing) It sjust terrible to hear (although you should never hear the voice of a BRD) we have instruments for something.

I would have to say no matter what...every job is needed in a pt somehow..SO i cant really say one job is needed the most, but i would say after 41 for RDM...its over cuz refresh is what its all about:) RDM is definately needed in a pt after lvl 41...
#17 Sep 07 2004 at 6:37 PM Rating: Decent
and of course RDM or a BARD is the most needed.... magic finale and dispel are essential to every party, fighting robbercrabs, beetles or any mobs that give itself buffs... (which is almost every mob) so if your level 41+ and dont have a rdm or bard in your party expect troubles or extreme downtime,
the arguement between whether a bard is better than a rdm or vice versa is all up to how the player uses their character, a strong melee rdm can add up damage, while a bard can power up the melees attacks, it mostly depends on equip and the player
but in my eyes i like a bard to boost my acc and att. ^^

If they (SE) would raise the level cap above 80 (like 85) You would definately see some BRD/RDM crawling everywhere (or trying to get there)

Ballad x2 + Refresh from one char... But that wouldnt happen. Imagine all the other mix ups that could happen? WHM with Warp 2...(evil WHM *shudder*)

(imagine the tele/warp spam)

I think Monk is the most needed
>_>
<_<
...right? :(
Nah seriously I think it'd be nice to start seeing decently equipped Monks, there's so few of them...a little piece of me dies when I see a ****** Monk, but people like Aoda and Watusa keep me going strong^^

I agree also, we need more well equipped monks! Also, War/Nin is a great DD/tank, why don't I see many of them?

It seems to me that most of the parties I'm in spend the most time looking for a tank. So I would say, based on that, that Paladins, Ninja's and Wariors are very needed. Damage dealers, however, seem to be a dime a dozen.

I've noticed a lot of Pld's in the 50's recently It seems almost every time I get on and "Find Member" I get a few "DD's" a few Mages and a bunch of plds. Recently I did a find member in all areas 6 out of 13 people looking were plds. I gotta agree with BRD SMN RDM or BLM though, never enough of them on.

SMN, as a SMN I often find myself as the only SMN in an area, and in some extremely rare cases, in a entire Region. Right now I'm doing a little statistic research on SMN, and apparently out of 80 SMN's that I have recorded, 50+ of them are above level 50. During early afternoons the number of SMN is the lowest, ~40. Soooo that leaves about 20 SMN's for the ~2k below lvl50 population to share...

And SMN's are amazing at BCNM 20's, I did ONE BCNM 20 with 2 other SMN's, it was amazing.

sadly now it's nearly impossible to get more than 2 SMN's together... especially since none of my friends play SMN. T.T

I hate healing...and as a RDM...where in the world are the WHMs at the Dunes?

They all seem to be hanging out elsewhere and avoiding the Dunes.
