Noob population on the rise?Follow

#1 Aug 27 2004 at 12:50 AM Rating: Decent
Has anyone else noticed that there seem to be a lot more noobs wandering around? I have had a lot of problems with very rude ppl lately. All commiting noob like behavior.
One being that i was mining and 2 ppl come running up and start mining the exact same point i was mining.
Another was when i was on my way to dunes to lvl whm when i got aggro from 2 gobs. Next thing i know i got some moron spamming me with tells asking for gil. I mean WTF why in the world would you spam someone that is being massacred by 2 gobs?!
Then i get to dunes and find that every pt i get into does not know the meaning of WHM IS BEING KILLED PLZ VOKE <t> OFF ME! i lost a lvl because of moron partys like that.
Has anyone else had more problems like this lately?

Dude its a given that there are newbs online. Maybe you are just getting a string of reeeaally bad players but, i mean, sh*t happens. What i would do is build my own pts. You being a WHM shouldnt have much trouble, seeing as whm and blm seem to be hardest to find in the dunes. (IMO of course) You can make sure that people know what they are doing by checking things like rank and equipment if they have a message up. Another beautiful thing about starting your own pts is that if someone gets a bit over the line or is just simply ******** up over and over again, just boot em. Give em a "Im sorry but you just do not fit in with this party" and give em the boot. I know it may be rash but its better than getting killed several times in a single afternoon. I mean getting killed happens and there are honest mistakes but if it happens again and again and it is the same people, well than, there just isnt much other choice. Ive had newbs in my partys plenty of times, i mean who hasent, but if they are getting people killed consistantly, than i have no problems disbanning and seeking for another pt. If your newb problems continue to occur, may i suggest Korrolka Tunnel(SP?). Its a smaller area but generaly has more skilled people in it because less people know about it. Another plus of K tunnel is that you get to fight worms which are a unanimusly easier type of pray to kill. When fighting worms, when all else fails, run the f**k away. If you are still in the dunes for a while, look me up. /tell Manwe sometime, i should be around leveling either my WAR or my THF. WAR is 17 THF is 15, just so you know. Just drop me a line and maybe we can toss together a decent party or maybe head to K Tunnel. Either is fine by me.

Those who complain about noobs, should be the ones to teach noobs.

"Is the noob population on the rise?" Sure, it has been that way when this game started, call it the life cycle of a MMORPG.

Here is a trick to tell if a party is noobish or not.

1). All of them seem to be rank one, and higher then level 25.
2). Party lineup is just bizzare... such as three thiefs, two monks, and a white mage.
3. If upon making a party, ask you "Where are you?" more then three times.
4. No armor what so ever. If you are in the dunes, and see a WAR with basic a basic subligar and nothing else.
5. If you have a WAR/WHM in your party.

What can you do to make things better?

1. If you think you can do a better job picking people for the party, then ask for leader postion.
2. Always make sure everyone knows what job they must preform in each party.
3. Although not the best at low levels, study a renkai guide and make sure to give this information out to the party. Telling people who are new about the 3 second timer is kinda handy as well, give a good explantion.
4. Offer advice, don't be like "Hey WAR/WHM *Name* You suck! Get some armor you frickn' n00b!" instead, say something like this... "Hey *name* just a warning, but you may want to change your subjob and up your armor class abit when you go looking for a party.

Just a reminder, we were all new once.

You are bound to get newbie parties in valkurm dunes. And there's a good difference between good newbies and bad newbies. Good newbies try to learn as they play and listen to what others have to say. I don't mind helping people who are willing to listen.

Also there's an european release comming. That might somewhat affect the amount of new people.

I don't know about you all but I've seen a multitude of RDM/WAR's around lately, specifically in the past week. Am I missing something about this job combo...? Did SE give WAR some godly job trait/ability which would actually make WAR a good sub for a mage? NO. They didn't.

Yes there are a lot of new people joining FFXI, but in my opinion, that CAN be a good thing bc once they get high lvls...WE can use them...:)

Bah. There will always be idiots around.

I honestly dont understand how some people are 'noob' magnets. Aside form the typical bad party, I have not had many really bad encoounters with these individules. I have never been cussed out. I have been asked for gil, and been very firm and straight forward that they are expected to make their own money. But every other week I hear of 'noob' horror stories.

Maybe I am just lucky.

European launch is soon, can you imagine what thats going to be like? Dunes will be horrible, prices will (most likely) inflate heavily (lower level drop items like silk may deflate if they learn how to use the AH), and you'll see alot more war/whms and blm/mnks. Thats going to be a fun day.
