Server Merge with OdinFollow

How do you guys feel about the server merge that was just announced?

It looks like Ifrit is going to be gone and we're moving into Odin. I always thought that more people on the server is a good thing. The economy will be morphed? Abyssea competition higher? More fun with random people? What do you guys think?

From an economy standpoint, it looks like prices are lower on Odin for a fair number of things. Good news for people starting out or needing new gear, not as good news for people with large amounts of things to sell that were bought at higher Ifrit prices but now must be sold at lower Odin prices.

C'est la vie. :) We'll have to make the best of it, and hopefully we can all meet some nice new folks and get to learn a whole new set of people to avoid. :D

The economy looks like it will be tough for me. All the things I buy seem to cost more and all the things I sell seem to go for less. I'll figure out how to adapt though.

I am looking forward to meeting lots of new people.

Eh, it was bound to happen. It is a little sad to see our home go, though. Brings up a lot of "hopefully" statements.
Hopefully Abyssea won't now be incredibly over-crowded;
Hopefully the Odin people won't decide to be a bunch of asshats to anyone incoming from Ifrit;

etc. Whatever.

I'm kinda of sad to hear this. I saw worlds merge before but I always thought Ifrit was a higher populated one. I was thinking of coming back after playing FFXIV for a while, I just hope I don't have to change my name.

I will be sad to lose my home of 7 years, but I can cope with that. It does look like I will need to change my name though. Odin has a character with my name on it already. Doesn't look like he has been active in over a year though.

i hope that they do the merger soon i played when it first came to america and i quit in 2009 but was going to come back to ifrit and play again, but they suspended all char creation and activation until the merge

when is the merge gonna happen? It says in game it will occur when they service the servers, but there isn't really a date in the information that is given to us.

I'll know where to go when I make my comeback! Haven't been around FFXI for several years now, but I miss it and hopefully it's still as wonderful as it was back in the day. I'll have to start all over again, no idea what happened with my original account. Hope to see some old names :)

No set date right now. Was supposed to happen on March 16th but then the whole server shut down thing happened and they cancelled that date.

I'm more worried about Ifrit people being assshats to a welcoming Odin server.
