It's official. I disabled my Content IDs this afternoon, and took up a friend's offer to convert to the Dark Side. I'm now officially: For The Horde.

Of course i'm still going to visit this forum every day, just because Ifrit's server forums are as interesting as a squirrel perched on the edge of a barrel of sulfuric acid. Who needs to talk about anything FFXI-related? B1tch, b1tch, b1tch, b1tch, b1tch...and that's why we always come back for more.

On a related note: SE extended it's 3-month deletion policy on deleted Content IDs to at least 12 months, if not forever, since they're not exactly rolling in the Content ID storage at the moment. A few million Content ID slots for about 500,000 people. So delete away and take your breaks. If anything, you can come back during Adventurer's Appreciation if they do decide to delete your data altogether.

I'd have to agree with Fil here. I only played WoW for the free two weeks that you got by dl'ing off the Blizzard homepage, and in that time I took a troll something-or-other to around Lv.25; I didn't really like the whole quest-your-exp deal, and the community seemed like it was a bunch of 13 year olds that couldn't get over the fact that they just discovered epeen.

All other MMO that I've played seemed like nothing more than a WoW clones, from GW to LoTR. About the only thing I can thing of that I liked more in WoW than I do in FFXI is that females in WoW all have huge bewbs.

Also, I would much rather hang out with Fil's goody-two-shoes attitude than have to deal with the kids that can't wait to shove their penises into the next pile of drama that comes along... of which WoW has no short supply of.

I've started playing WoW because FFXI's slow pace finally got to me.
I might be back in winter so I can save my character from a horrible pixelated death.. and the fact I'm sorta kinda missing FFXI already :[ oh and to see the new expansion contents.. that'll be cool..

yawnnn WoW is so boring >_< and when you get to end game its gona be that much worse. Half of there end game is... "Lets take old instances and make them higher level! We will call it Heroic!" the other half is lets run through instances to kill a hard boss... wewt!

No real difference between the two when it comes to group instances. Just in the mechanics of how to run it. Except the whole, actual instance instead of a single reserved server that you have to wait on, or things like Meeting stones, Warlock summoning, and world invites to drag people to the instance who are late. Or mounts you don't have to go to a stables for to hurry it up.

Try endgame FFXI instances after WoW, though. Yawn. FFXI's pace is slow, and even as a RDM, you aren't doing nearly as many things at once. You get used to Shift-1, Shift-2, Shift-3 at a minimum to run through 36 hotkey slots to get what you want before you start gear-swapping. Barring you have unlimited macro slots from Blizzard just for that purpose in the first place, or your plug-ins that SE would have a caniption if you had installed on FFXI.

World of Warcraft: Simple things please simple minds.

I agree whole-heartedly Fhq, there are certain intangibles to it. One thing I've nailed down though is the atmosphere in FFXI. Everything is woven carefully together, whether it's the storyline or the the actual zones. They have an absorbing effect on the player I find. Like in WoW, you have your standard lava zones, swamp zones, forest zones and snowey mountain zones, all staggered appropriately, and it all ends up feeling very contrived and lame. The community is hard to beat in FFXI as well, whether you realize it or not.
