Ownie-I usually don't even bother to read this thread, but he SO pissed me off, that I figured i'd put him in. He committed one of the biggest sins against my pt, in which I had spent a good hour gathering together, positioning and prepping:He ditched me. No, he didn't just Alt+Tab, and leave us confused. He just sat down, and went AFK. He's prolly still in Boyahda Tree. Normally i'd say DC, but after a half-hour? No. Not a word of warning, or anything. As the only Refresher in a 50-level pt, that just destroyed us. I had to pay 2K to get everyone D2's that wanted it. ^>.<^ Don't even -think- about getting this guy XP. He'll screw you over, anyways, if you do.

Nope. It's because I worked 12-hours a day myself, and just didn't bother playing FFXI, or anything, in favor of sleep on back-to-back days, instead of falling asleep on my pt's.
I'm glad I don't do that, anymore, but after being in his shoes, I really don't have any sympathies when he reaps what he sows. Especially after all the hoops it caused me to jump through, just to get everyone back to Jeuno. Yeah, not to mention he wasted a good hour of my life.

I work 12 hour shifts, 5 days a week, and manage to party when I get home without falling asleep, but that's only because I know exactly how long it takes my medicine's "drowsiness" side effects to kick in and can give ample warning.
Now sit back, take a deep breath, and repeat to yourself "I'm getting pissed off because I'm an asshat who takes a cluster of pixels and packets far too seriously" before someone puts your name up here as a bad player and ruins your reputation and you pop a vessel or something.

Last time I checked, desks aren't comfortable, and sleeping with a keyboard in your lap on a couch with a controller wrapped around your neck is less than desireable.
If you are THAT tired there is ONE solution: GO TO BED. There is NO excuse for falling asleep on a pt. If you are tired, then don't play the game. Why is that so hard a concept to grasp?
I guess its because I play a job that is impossible to leech with, and yes it is leeching, that I don't "fall asleep".
I've been in pt's where people have "fallen asleep" only to miraculously wake up the moment the pt disbands or he is punted.
I realize some jobs WILL have downtime, mages MUST rest some battles to keep chains going, but people that go afk without warning deserve what they get. Bad reputations.
Note: I realize Ownie was not leeching and was legitimately afk whether it was sleeping or some other life emergency, he wasn't leeching. My statement is simple: If you are tired, tell the party you are sleepy and log. There will be other days to level and other pt's to join.

I've fallen asleep before, in some of the oddest situations. I've been known to fall asleep on the phone. I haven't done it recently, but that's because my desk isn't comfy. My couch on the other hand....

i have much sympathy for ownie, and by the looks of things, no matter what he did he would have ended up with a complaint. Lets look at the possibilities:
A. Fall asleep while waiting for the pty to start

Ohhh yeah, speaking of Zincypoo, if you BCNM with this guy, don't let him get his hands on any coffer treasure. Have a trusted party leader divide treasure, sell it, and send money. That guy screwed 2 of my best LS mates (and their party) out of a good coffer drop. The other people they BCNM'd with never heard back from him either, after repeated tells and messages. He apparently B-listed them and took off with an Erase scroll, an Utsusemi, and a couple other drops.
I have nothing against the guy personally. But one of the aforementioned LS mates is my boyfriend, so I got to watch the BCNM, the unanswered /tells, the checking of the AH sales log, and the conclusion: "yeh. We got hosed."

It's easy to fall asleep at the keyboard if you've been conditioned to sleep whenever possible, wherever you are. I personally can fall asleep anywhere, and in front of the computer is one of the more comfy places I have, running from Windy AH to the mog house.
The least comforatble? In an foxhole barely large enough for one person, fitting two, 40 degrees outside and raining. What a nightmare.

on the subject of BCNMs all I have to say is, make sure you do it with people you trust, and if you do it with random people, expect the worst. oh and if they do scam you, put thier names everywhere. save people the loss. I've been scamed a few times as a BRD and it sucks. which is why I'm glad I dont have any seals left to lose :-)

yo this is ownie 54brd/27whm and all i got to say is it took him 20mins not one hr to make pt and wow 2k if your this high lev 2k i piss on. second note i feel alseep and apologized many times. My work speaks for itself and just b/c i couldnt help falling asleep im a bad player come on kid get real. Ty lord and everyone for sticking up for me if we pt in future you will understand that i do my brd job well and am easy to get along with. i say this dude is one of the worst players in the game for not being understanding on something i could not control ty for your support all

My username is Scelesta. Open your eyes. That's also my ffxi char (surprise!). The players you ripped off were Halostar and Thargore. Thar was the WHM, Halo was the RNG. It was a linkshell bcnm, (probably the linkshell you mentioned you are in) and Thar got double screwed because the party leader allegedly spelled his name wrong when sending one of the drop shares. The whole thing sounds shady to me, but Thar trusted you guys for some reason. And Halo went too, trusting Thar's judgement.
And re-read my post. I said I have no personal vendetta with you, no reason to "bag on you". I only posted to let other people know that I have watched you screw good players over. Halo and Thar had nothing against you either, until you wasted their time.
I'm sure you'll come up with some screwball story, contrived to save face (something along the lines of: "Dood, Halostar sed my mom wuz fat so I keeped hiz gils cuz hes a n00b"). So. Lets hear it. This better be good. Meanwhile, I'm going to find sum 1 els to pick on other then U.

Lastly, you did fall asleep on my pt. Suggest you remember that, before you go spouting off high-and-mighty. I'm a BST, nowadays. My reputation is null and void. I'll accept your apology, if we can just drop the whole thing, and you just be a little more aware of how tired you are, before you go gallavanting off with a long-term party.

I've seen many great players and probably cant even mention half of them ><. Heres some of them though..
Cett - Great at every job I've seen him play, Very aggresive sometimes when playing DD, had to save him too many times to count. =P
Norisal - One of the best Rdm's ive seen, enough said.
Mekong - His main is monk, but I've only seen him on White Mage. A status effect never lasted more than a couple seconds. Also very funny guy.
Lelee - One of the best thiefs I've partied with. Was able to SATA off me very quickly, and adapted in party really well.
Kag - Haven't partied with him much but he cracks me up, too bad hes not around much anymore.
Amonet - Never partied with her Whm, but she was great as summoner.

Cett - Great at every job I've seen him play, Very aggresive sometimes when playing DD, had to save him too many times to count. =P
Norisal - One of the best Rdm's ive seen, enough said.
Mekong - His main is monk, but I've only seen him on White Mage. A status effect never lasted more than a couple seconds. Also very funny guy.
Lelee - One of the best thiefs I've partied with. Was able to SATA off me very quickly, and adapted in party really well.
Kag - Haven't partied with him much but he cracks me up, too bad hes not around much anymore.
Amonet - Never partied with her Whm, but she was great as summoner.

Kingcronic (Tarutaru) recently stole 200k Utsemi:ni Scroll from our BCNM party. He simply lotted on something that does not belong to him and disbanded and left.
I would not have posted this if I had not found out that he did the same to a few different friends of mine on different occasions.
He's a habitual thief. so you all should beware.

I dont think you should really rate anyone as one of the worse players because alot of stuff in real life can affect how you play....but I'ld like to list a few players that keep me playing this game.
Sail- "I'ld starve to death without her"
Caige-"Great guy untill he becomes lyshanna then he is great unless your me..."
Raygom-"Never would have got leaping boots without him, and he is a good friend"
Pandora-"Great guy helped me out when I first started"
Diamondfist-"Great player and really fun to talk to"

Couldn't agree more. Either we were in the same party that day in the dunes or Ashi's done mob training to more than just my party. Ashi seemed ok at first...then he got all offended that we didn't like his camp spot and he trained 5 goblins to us. Then most of us died and he spammed all kinds of "LMAO! LMAO! LMAO! W000000000000000000000000000000000000000T!" in /tell...and then he called my dad GAYmac for no reason other than I was mad at him!

Too bad I read forums on pretty much a daily basis, Kevy ~.^ Thanks for making my night though :) I needed it.
I've been tracking this post for a while, and I think I'm finally going to just post my own thoughts. I'm going to try and list people that I would recommend to others that would be a good asset to a PT, which is, after all, the point of this thread, tho like always, turns into a friend shoutout session XD
Best:
Kluya - by far the best Paladin I have ever pted with...and in playing this game as long as I have...I've seen quite a few. Also one of my best friends, but thats irrelevant.
Ambroise - ever need a RDM by your side, Amb will never ever let you down. He can do it all. He's also one of the best people I've ever had the pleasure of being able to call friend. Probably the most selfless person on this planet.
Sosyc - This guy is an amazing drk. His equip is digustingly awesome, and I know he worked his ass off for it. Don't know him well but always a pleasure to PT with him.
Cuban - bad ass ninja, 'nuff said. This mithra solod THF af3 without taking a scratch.
Mrbyte - also a very good pld...and whm...and ninja...will he ever pick? who knows XD
Angu - awesome RDM! pted with him on my brd and was nothing less then very impressed ^.^b
Vanish - MNK with disgustingly good equip and a great player. was always a pleasure to pt with him
Tsusuwusu - great Taru drk, miss ptying with him. damn you all who passed my whm when I switched to brd :-b
Antiheiss - another great rdm I used to pt with back in my whm days
Shadowlight - good friend, good player. Log on more, tomato :-b we miss ya
Braetool - an obnoxious ass that I love to death and would trust with my life ^^. I've known him since I was Lv1 and have heard many say what a good rdm he is.
Trizin - great solid DD, nice equip, great player, and a cool person
Of course I can't remember every solid player I have run into in my year of playing this game, but if I have ever complimented you in PT chat, you're on my A list, and if I ever see you're name, I know I will recognize it. As for bad players, I'm going to keep that list hidden for now. I have my enemies I know, and that can never be avoided in an MMO, but fact of the matter is they are my enemies. I have never pted with someone so horrible that I felt I needed to run to this forum and post their name immediately and thus those whom I dislike for various reasons, will stay off of this post.
If you see me in game, send me a {Hello!} tell. I'm always happy for a friendly new person to chat with :) and if I'm not busy, help to the best of my ability.
And my last little sidenote, I'd like to point out that MMO's are not just a game, they are people and their feelings, friendships, hopes and dreams, failures and defeats. The minute you treat others in this game like pixels is the minute you lose the essence of the game. Do unto others...? precisely. /endrant

Ciric- Wow, talk about a helpful PLD, today he was helping me with LB1, he only planned on spending time to get us the bomb coal, but he then decided to help us (Me(Kerreck), Durreden, and Mye or Mya i forget the spelling, in the end, he died and delevel which i feel REALLY bad for. (I would mention the two RDMs who were also helping but I forget the names please forgive me >.<)
Kathan- Very good 71DRK friend of mine, often gives me information on planting and farming, very nice guy all around.
Gamefreak- Popular guy on Ifrit, it seems like everyone I know has run into him at sometime. Way back a while ago we were both level 20's and would hunt the NMs Breecher and Wallbreaker (this was before I took the summer off and when I came back he was level 70 8P). Great guy
Filian- Met him when we where level 30, currently hes a 60 SAM, seems dumb(jk) but is actually knows alot about alot final fantasy games. We usually mess with each other but were good friends heh. He usually gets bored and helps people for fun. I hope he'll help me with AF
Flintmichael- lvl 60 DRK whos a great friend of mine, likes to craft and likes to help people as well. He's helped me alot with many quests and missions.
Zearo- A great WHM who helped me get Tele-Vahzl crystal, saves me alot of trouble in the future. Thanks buddy!
Sonary- Good PLD who helped PL my THF from 10 all the way to 20 in two days. A great friend.
Lenny- Just met her today, she helped me finish LB1 by staying with me to get Ancient Papyrus, we got it relativly early, but to put in perspective, she was WILLING to stay long enough to get Papyrus (Which I hear can take up to 3 hours or more), very helpful person, thanks ^_^
Jeanluc- Man sorry almost forgot you >.<, a great SMN who started my current LS, very nice guy, hes been away for a bit but shouws up a few times and always is great to talk to. A great SMN who you should invite if you see searching.
At the moment I'm having a blank, I hope the people I have forgotten will forgive me >.<

In the time I have spent with this game I have met a multitude of people! Some of them helpful and some of them not. But it is safe to say that I'm an easy going guy and get along with most of the people I meet! But to make my list you must not only be helpful, good in a pt, smart, and funny! You must also be a good friend! This list is just going in the order that my brain remembered the names so don't feel bad if you got left off.

[li]Triplenutz- This is the first person I ever met in the game! We started playing the very same day and have been good friends ever since. Anyone who like Slipknot and porn is a good friend in my book!
[li]Ciric- The best PLD I've ever met. Though death follows him around very closely, only because he's willing to save anyone from dying. This fellow bought me my first spell and raised me up from a noob! What a task that was!
[li]Mersedes- Hands down the single nicest gal I've ever met in all my playing! She's helped me get my RSE, farm, and given the occasional escort to scary dungeons! Thanks Mer you're a sweetheart!
[li]Filian- "The sign of a good teacher is when the student surpasses their teacher!" Filian is a prime example of this saying. I met him when I started my Dragoon! He is one the the founding members of my ls and while I'm just now in the late 30's with my SMN, his SAM has hit 60. This crazy elvaan used to cry for his mother when goblins were near! But now this man intentionally creates trains just for the fun of destroying them.
[li]Moatiliata- What can I say Moat you rock. While our paths cross on very rare occasions it's sure to be fun. Your antics on the ls always keep me thouroughly entertained.
[li]Sareela- The best WHM I know! Funny, dedicated, and quite the live wire hilarity always ensues when this gal is near!
[li]Keeperpsycho- You're still a noob buddy, but you've flown through your first 20 lvl's including getting and lvling your sub. I can't wait to pt with you! Keep on truckin buddy!
[li]Flintmichael- You made the list too! I remember you from noobness and now you could destroy me by simply thinking it. You are also the best crafter I know! But that's not saying much! jk
[li]Sangel- Anyone who has the balls to be a SMN has earned my respect cause it's just not an easy life! But if you are willing to spend hours on end lvling your smn magic and farming gil for your mini battles you will find that its one of the best job's the game has to offer! (Although Filian would disagree)
[li]Kerreck- This man can hunt NM's like nobody's business and I admire his patience because I simply do not tolerate NM hunts very well! You're a great guy and you are rock solid in a pt! Any pt is lucky to have you in it! And I'm sure glad you're a Cactaur Killa!
In conclusion every single one of you makes this game worth playing. And weather anyone else thinks its true or not these are the best players (in my opinion) on the entire server! If I had the time every single person in my ls would be on this list but my fingers simply cannot handle this much typing! Hope you all read this and please don't go getting all sentimental on me! *sniffle

It's been almost a year since I started playing FFXI. I've encountered excellent players, and bad ones. No one really so horrible that I have to mention here however, so here are some people that have changed the way I play FFXI:
(Bigpunn) - When I was just a wee little lvl 8 RDM, he was in my first party in Ghelsba Outpost. After we were done exping, he saw that I was a newbie and was still in my level 1 armor. He took me to the auction house and got me a better sword and armor, and showed me the start of the PLD quest (trade a revival root for a Spatha Lvl 9 sword). He was really one of the nicest people I've met in this game, kudos for helping newbies like me out!
(Jmac, Tremere, Syndara) - These guys were in the best party I've had in all of my 51 levels of RDM. I was partying with them in dunes, level 16. Just amazing and so helpful! They were the ones that taught me to skillchain I believe.
(Krazybean) - Partied with him in Qufim, our party really sucked lol. Afterwards, I reached lvl 25 and he took me to get my keys. I didn't even know about the Kazham keys until he offered to help me with his awesome PLD. Good man.
(Hadanelith) - I swear, this guy must have Japanese origins or something. He is by far the most amazing player I've ever met. Some of his theories and ideas for leveling are simply incredible. I've personally seen him solo toughs on his sub, 28 RDM. Just...wow...
(Senseii) - Best DD I've ever had. In Crawlers Nest, his MNK was just crazy. I still to this day can't figure out how our NIN tank kept hate from him. He's got some mad skills..

He was really one of the nicest people I've met in this game, kudos for helping newbies like me out!
(Jmac, Tremere, Syndara) - These guys were in the best party I've had in all of my 51 levels of RDM. I was partying with them in dunes, level 16. Just amazing and so helpful! They were the ones that taught me to skillchain I believe.
(Krazybean) - Partied with him in Qufim, our party really sucked lol. Afterwards, I reached lvl 25 and he took me to get my keys. I didn't even know about the Kazham keys until he offered to help me with his awesome PLD. Good man.
(Hadanelith) - I swear, this guy must have Japanese origins or something. He is by far the most amazing player I've ever met. Some of his theories and ideas for leveling are simply incredible. I've personally seen him solo toughs on his sub, 28 RDM. Just...wow...
(Senseii) - Best DD I've ever had. In Crawlers Nest, his MNK was just crazy. I still to this day can't figure out how our NIN tank kept hate from him. He's got some mad skills..

Kitty just because you dont like him doesnt mean everyone else cant. I dont know you, never partied with you, and probably never seen you in game. But, you seem to argue with alot of people on the forums and try to make others look bad. I'm not trying to start another flame war, but please try to tone down the badmouthing of other players. It just gets a little annoying sometimes...
Oh also....Yes, i have partied with Bigpunn in the dunes on more than one occasion. Both times he gave gil/advice to the newer players. So unless he personally attacked you or something, i dont know why your talking bad about him. And if he has, i'm sorry. Its just that hes not the first person u didnt speak kindly of and it was starting to just bother me for some odd reason.

Hah, for the past few months (ending when I left TTK) he had made it his sworn duty to personally attack me in every way possible....just ask Aesk.....he is helpful to a lot of people but he has a cruel temperament towards a few individuals.....I would elaborate in a more detailed manner but then a certain person would flame me beyond reason;-)

o_O I made a freakin account just for this thread.. My name is Machanochi on the server, but what's funny is my name was already taken so I had to use this XD anyway... I dunno if ANYONE knows me. I wish I were a well known person, but oh well. The best players I know in this game are some that have already been mentioned so I won't list them.. but.. Everyone in my LS, VanguardOfAltana, are all great people.. We have so much fun just doing everything together and helping when we can, as well as just chatting and laughing on Ventrilo.. My big props go out to my sister/brother-in-law Garin, for without them, I would never have even gotten as far as 50 drk. Kevbum, shut up and take the compliments, k? =P Always keeps the cures comin and is willing to die even when he shouldn't.. Darque, who is a terrific Rdm, as well as a mnk.. I mean, how many times can you say that you've seen a great Taru mnk? Please... tell me.. /sigh There are too many people to mention on this list.. Nazumi, who lost his/her account and got right back up and smacked SE in the face and got right back to where he was, he stuck it and is still with us.. Kitty, if being generous and giving helpfull tips and gil to new players took little to no effort, (as you implied) than everyone and their moogle would be doing it. Its not everyday u find a person in ur pty willing to buy u that new set of armor or those spells you've been eyeing.
Generosity relates to kindness, so IMO and the opinions of others. Big has a very kind demeanor towards people.

You know it's odd, I'll get tells all the time asking me random question about the game and sure enough when i /sea them they are a newbie, So i try to help them as best i can. But then some of them cling... I'll help them out then be done talking with them then realize they are following me around south gustaberg O.O.... neway i may just be too nice but thats my two cents... what's this thread about again?
