i say who cares if he wants to offer his RDM for hire, im sure none of you would offer that in the first place, let a low level character help another one out even if its not much, its more than any other offer anyone has posted.

the previous repliers are knocking someone offering their services, as menial as those services may be, to the public. as ridicules it may sound no one needs to knock this original poster or GIVE ADVICE where none was asked for. Perhaps a better example would be if one person would be making fun of the other because they shopped at walmart where as the other shopped at Macys.

I applaud the fact that the above posters helped you out in a jam, they offered their help to someone in need, but i dont recall any of the above people offering services to the general public as the original poster has done.

So based on your reply that would mean that the people replying would be the same people setting the standards as to how one should offer services?

I say buyer beware, who cares who or what offers their services and at what price, i dont recall any of the above posters belonging to some organization that sets the rules.
Everyone has the right to play or do as they wish.

the above person placed "i think" an honest offer to the server in which you dont have to take him up on. Further more there is no need to make fun of his current job or what you may feel be a lack in abilities.

In fairness, this would've been a great idea 2 years ago when even the brokest lamest excuse for a player had 5 million gil (aka: me). Now that the economy has deflated to an all-time low--with the deflation showing no signs of stopping--I don't think anyone would hire anyone for merc'ing even if the merc were a fully merited RDM75. I give the OP credit for trying, but my fellow Gilgamesh forum trolls are not out of line with their advice.

Since when has derailing been out of bounds? I remember before the NM Elemental Magic nerf a year and a half ago I made a post asking if any BLMs wanted to manaburn Divine Might and it turned into a debate on Suppa vs. Bushi and Bren bragging about claiming Ulli. Don't act like derails don't happen; don't act like you don't cause them. :P

Short: Keep both capped.

Long: Despite having merits in both sword and axe, on greater colibri my martial bhuj kicks the pants off my maneater/joytoy option in most cases, and thats with /NIN. Get me on something like mamool or trolls and let me sub SAM and its just crazy. The ability to eat meat on almost anything makes it pretty sweet, and <3 my fortitude torque. When I was levelling WAR I had axe already capped thru the 60s thanks to BST, so I used greataxe almost fulltime, and loved every moment of it. I can only imagine how nice it is now after the buffs 2h weapons got. If you encounter resistance to using gaxe (which you really shouldnt) you can always try to catch up in besieged or something, but these days people should be very enthusiastic about gaxe on WAR, and you shouldnt have nearly so many people whining about not using axes while you're beating them in DoT w/gaxe. Also, don't discount how nice Full Break can be at the start of a fight when you get it in a spam pt.

How do our replies affect you, that you need to come in with such vitriolic behaviour? We didnt ask for you to come in and insult us, yet you did anyways. Such is the nature of forums. If you had issues with the *single* post that was smilies instead of questions and/or advice, why attack all posts rather than that one? Considering the usual stuff on these forums, this dude is lucky that anyone offered something useful to him rather than laughing him right out the door; I think we all sensed that he was new and thus deserving of a break. You, on the other hand, get no breaks with your ironic 'judgement/idiots' comment.

I wracked my brain trying to figure out what he could possibly be trying to hire himself out for; it almost seemed like he was trying to get paid to party with people and cast his spells. Since this seemed rather unlikely to work, I offered advice to go with the question, since the poster seemed rather new at this whole thing, and it'd prolly save him some time to learn that he can make decent money @40. And everyone needs to be told to save beastseals, I dont think I've met anyone who didnt toss at least a couple as a newb.

I was trying to put a positive spin on it BBS ;;

I've compared my performance to similarly equipped WARs, the only diff really was them using a byakko or berserker's axe and spamming RR, and me with my martial bhuj doing SC. I dominated them all. And when I swapped over to RR, the performance was pretty disappointing on the bhuj. I found myself wishing I'd bought my byakko's. I still toss out some RRs now and then just for variety, but they inevitably fall on the low end of the WS range that I was getting from SC.

I also seldom end up in double bard parties, which is of course annoying. My axe/sword combo catches up to my bhuj pretty well with 2 good brds, or even a brd and a cor, on colibri. But without that spare madrigal on top of the normal buffs, gaxe just reigns. And its a lot more fun still, after ages of rampage spam.

I do have a fortitude axe. But I generally reserve my virtue stones, what few I collect, for my maneater/temperance setup on BST. Far too lazy to farm sea to support WAR merits when the bhuj is perfectly serviceable. I might be able to do better DoT in the end with a fort axe/RR spam setup (theorizing, I've not tested to know if thats actually possible for me), but thats too much effort to sustain.

And, naturally, theres a bit of a "I paid a lot for this and I'm darn well going to get my money's worth"-attitude about my bhuj, as well.

Edit: Also, I dont have /DRG available; nor do I have my haidate still. The 10% haste difference would definitely make fortitude axe a *lot* more powerful. Only recently got /SAM up to par, and seldom get to use it. Far too often I'm the only /NIN around and have to do first voke and all that crap, which is why I've mostly stopped meriting even on WAR. I hate tanking by default. I dont mind pulling hate and tanking by virtue of damage for a bit, but its much harder to share hate when you're voking in addition to doing a ton of DD.

If you are going to use SC, its the best choice really; the TP requirements for a good WS are annoying otherwise. But as you mentioned, you can really get by with just spamming out RR with another axe as well, either fortitude or a high base dmg one.

I cant wait for Hagun on SAM...I'm pondering if I want to try and be lazy and not buy another gkatana until then, thanks to soboro. Just havent been in the mood to xp lately :(

Even with the new job ability SAMs are getting with the next update you don't think Hagun will be worth it?
