Got to Nyzul 70 today. I can't remember the last time I didn't complete the 5 floor increment. I'm glad I'm not in this for gear. More power to the people who have done it over and over. I'll be happy to go back to trying to finish captain.

My Static is supposed to be starting back up this Sunday...but if not, I'm shouting for Nyzul. If I'm on Thursday, I'm burning a couple of tags, too. Sick of sitting on my main job weapons with 12000 points needed. I don't have the time to spend on that crap.

I honestly did not know that. Like I said, he's a decent guy so I don't pry. He offered to synth my ingots when I got Morrigan's Robe, so I know he's at least got smithing up high, so that's a source for good money if you're committed to it.

And don't automatically assume that everyone always sticks up for their LS-mates no matter what. The 5-6 people I detest the most have all been in an LS with me at one time... >.>

I've started at 1 for so many people and then no one ever stays for 5+ that I remain stuck at that point. I have 2 weapons that need broken in, and I'm tired of being stuck there.

My static will be back in action Sunday for sure; 1 guy had computer issues this week. Hopefully we will be captains in a couple of weeks, if we're lucky.

I'm so freaking productive now it's incredible. Still can't seem to find a job. I'm crossing the 6 month mark soon, which is average for skilled professionals as I understand it. So with the state of employment as it is, I'm going to try not to get discouraged and fill out more apps than I even do regularly.

Wife has her theses defense tomorrow. So, if I find a job in the next 6 months we're free to leave this place. And if I don't, we'll have to!

Because clearly a job that is 75% dependent on raw melee damage has its fate sealed by one meager weaponskill.

Since half the bonuses the weapons give only happen after you use said ws, and the other half add minimal boosts to job abilities you may or may not ever use, yeah the quality of the nyzul ws pretty much determines whether the weapon sucks or not.

Clearly.

Yeah, because that "enhances absorb spells" on liberator is so fantastic, I must have one! And augmenting Mijin Gaikure is totally going to change the way people play NIN. And that's just the ones that are entirely worthless, rather than including almost worthless ones.

Are you saying that the enhances affects make the item worth getting?

Kind of a pot calling the kettle black situation here. Louis is wrong about the fact that you use the jas. Nor is completely wrong about the idea that the weapon is remotely worth getting.

It looks @#%^ing sweet though, I'll give you that.

I never said Glanzfaust was worth getting.

Surprisingly though, Glanzfaust is actually coming out 5ish % ahead of Destroyers in a meriting situation by utilizing Footwork to maximize the effect of the one-hit DA you get with the AM3 effect. Not something worth the time and money investment, in my opinion, but at least it's not a complete failure.

I would classify 5% as a complete failure over a free set of H2H. Isn't there something about footwork not using haste? I'm not really up on the full uses of footwork or the real point to it. I never used it on chariots, never had dunes. Considering I don't melee any HNM outside of salvage, is it even worth using?

Using it on chariots is a waste of time. It limits your damage output to the point that you can't reasonably keep hate against other DDs weaving WS in or whatnot.

Footwork is affected by Haste, it's a change to a base delay of 480, with D+18 (before boots) and an attack/sTP bonus. Using equivalent gear in a Footwork build to a normal TP setup (sans dune boots) is generally going to be the optimum choice if you need to be using it (read: when TP is really a problem and you aren't concerned with a particularly speedy damage race, ie chariots). I used it when our group faced the Cerberus FL Assault to decent success, and would have probably done the same in AU44 if I were on MNK instead of BLM, but most HNMs it's not a concern and killing it faster via usual punching will generally be superior.

Weaponskills are afforded the new values despite their usual animations. It's fun to bust out a nice chunky Asuran Fists every 5 minutes with it (or even better, Dragon Kick if you're at 200+ TP, which *does* seem to get some additional effect from kick boots while under Footwork).

Since the activation rate for the extra attack on AM3 is so high but only good for one additional attack (unlike Faith Baghnakhs), the bonuses to Footwork are very synergetic with it, it seems.

And yeah, 5% is pretty meager for what it takes to get you there. But as your character's gear improves you're going to be bridging smaller and smaller margins of improvement, so if someone's serious about pimping out the job, it's good to know that it actually does in fact accomplish that, albeit in a way most people wouldn't expect.

Um... we were talking about whether the nyzul ws makes the mythic weapons crap. Since each weapon only has one ws, we're obviously talking about all of them. Insert another quarter to try again.

And I still don't see glanzfaust beating destroyers even with the third aftermath. Since you have to ws at 300 tp to get said double attack, you're throwing away 2 ws's to get that effect. (probably more than 2, since asuran>ascetics) I somehow doubt, that higher damage faiths are going to do more than 2 extra ws's. Maybe if your WS's really suck, I guess. But if you put enough into the job to get a mythic, you damn well better not be doing gimp WS's.

Maybe, maybe, set up specificly for the weapon, you might do sliiiightly more. But slightly more in your normal gear wouldn't be worth it. Slightly better in a specific set up, using footwork, with a freaking mythic, that's crap.

Plus, I'd like to see glansfaut vs spharai. I'm betting it loses then.

This conversation started and was talking exclusively about Glanzfaust until you brought up the other weapons for some obscure reason. Even your first comments were talking in the singular, so you were clearly singling out something.

(Edit: I do see now that Heavensword said "mythic weapons" in the plural, but it doesn't fly; not all the mythic WS are crap, so I sincerely doubt you were talking in generic terms when we began this conversation. I stand corrected if you were.)

And again with the speculatives divined from the ether...the math is there, like it or not. See here or here (they're both the same post, but BG post linking is wonky, it should be a post by almalexia showing the math).

I agree it's pretty dumb that it's only slightly better using an ability that isn't really part of the job's core design though.

Again, I never said Glanzfaust was good, or worth getting (though it clearly *is* an upgrade over your average monk; just not an upgrade I would advocate). I just hate grossly inaccurate presumptions made about something that otherwise has decent factual evidence to back it up.
