I go by the name Spaceboy, and have been trying to make rank 3 for months now. I'm a level 24 monk/war. Been doing emissary since level 8 or 9, but cannot find a party to defeat the black dragon.
Its not as though I haven't tried. I've been stopping in Windhurst every few levels to try to find a party, but it seems like Windhurst is all but abandoned. Nobody is around. Nobody is ever in Giddeus who can (or is willing) to help.
This has been so frustrating, that I actually stopped playing for a month hoping that maybe things would change -- but when I returned -- I found it is about the same.
Well, if you see me in Windy -- give me a tell if you're willing to help out. I'll take whatever help I can.
Also, what sort of party would I need -- at minimum -- to beat this mission? I assume I can't solo it. I might be able to scrounge up a few people to help -- but I don't know what I'll need.

I just want to say thanks to everyone who has volunteered help :) Hopefully we can work something out and maybe, one day when I'm of a higher lvl, I could help some of you guys (Altho by that point you prolly won't need any ^^)

I just accepted the mission yesterday so i still have to go to sandy and bastok and do all that jive crap. but once i get that done i'll need to kill that dragon, /tell me and we'll go nuts.

Hey guys -- just an update. I beat the dragon last night with the help of some good guys. And we managed to take it with a lot of rage and no white mage. Just 4 of us.
I actually died during the battle (the life expectancy of a monk with lots of hate is not very long) -- but one of my party mates killed it. So the mission counted for me, luckily. Would have sucked otherwise.
I gotta give a thumbs up to Lur, Grimreap, Jynx, and Asuki(?) for helping out. After weeks (and months) of trying -- it feels good to be rank 3.
As for any of you other guys out there that need help -- I'm in Bastok at the moment but would be glad to help out if I'm nearby and you are going against him.
4 level 24's can beat him, if you use your two hours. A whm would be nice (I would have survived) but we rocked him pretty hard. We split up 2 & 2 against the seeker & the dragon. The two of us on the dragon died, but got him down to about 1 hit of dying so the other two killed the searcher and then finished him off.
Ideally, without a healer -- you can probably do it with 5 fighters. 3 on the dragon and 2 for the searcher.
It was a fun battle though. Now to find the keys...

I go by Spiegeln do a /sea all spiegeln when you are going to fight the dragon. I'l join as a 25 Dragoon/Warrior.^^
congrats on rank3 spaceboy. easiest way is to sleep the dragon while you kill the eye, then use hundred fists on the dragon ;)
