Good server to reroll on? Starting over LOLFollow

I think we're just as good as most of the other servers?

I wish people would stop calling it "reroll" or "rolling." >_>

You don't roll stats in FFXI. There are no dice, or even representations of dice in the character creation process. Stats are fixed by race/job selection. 'Rolling' is an archaic term with no intelligent application in this case.

No, that lingo is not used in FFXI. No one I know uses those words. We could take a poll, if it will make you feel better to see that you're in a very small minority here.

Um...pretty sure he made no mention of it being the first MMO, nor does that have anything to do with this case.

Point simply is that if you are coming to a forum dedicated to a particular game, use terminology that, while people might understand, has absolutely no bearing on the game itself...don't be surprised if someone points it out to you.

Kind of like talking to a football fan and asking how many runs does one team have. Sure they'll understand you, but probably will correct you.

Then as a response you say...

Your point wasn't proven because the OP used the term. If your point was proven, you'd have an actual supporter here. No one else has posted saying "hey, I use this term." Well, I have had 3 supporters in this thread already... so I guess my point is proven too. Yay for all of us being right!!!

Well, yeah. My 9 year old used to call weapon skills, "cool things." He'd say, upon hitting 100% TP, "use your cool thing!" Does that mean the terminology is used in the game? Sure, if it's used by ONE person, you could argue that it's used in the game. That wasn't my point, though. I've been arguing that there are only a FEW idiots in the game who use it. While I used phrases like "no one says that," an intelligent person would realize I'm using a generality. I don't literally mean "no one."

If you examine my arguments, you see that I say that you're in a minority. You could make up your own terminology for the game and say it's used "in game" if you really wanted to. Sure, SOME people use it. By some, I mean an idiotic minority. I'd be willing to say 90-99% of FFXI players do not use that terminology. If it was accepted jargon in FFXI, 51% or greater of the players would use "rolling." But that's just not the case.

Don't pretend you were arguing all along that 1% of the game uses that terminology, and that you were justified in your argument all along. Because we all know what you were arguing. You've just been stupid all along.

Actually, I don't really see the point of "advising" a person about the use of the word "roll".

I understand what he's trying to ask, you probably do so too, even if this term is taboo in FFXI, everyone understands and knows what he's trying to ask.

You probably didn't get a direct answer but the replies basically tells you the type of players on Fairy.

Because it annoys me, like it does many people? That's reason enough to point it out. If no one says anything, the phrases are allowed to spread. It's even more dumb when it applies to something that doesn't even make sense anymore.

To roll is a reference to dice. There are no dice being used here.

That's annoying enough without going into it further.
