Hello everyone.

I started playing FFXI the week it came out in North America on PS2 and played for about a year straight then quit. But now myself and a few of my buddies are back and are wondering where to roll new toons.

We originally rolled on our old server ( Kujata ) only to find that it is practically dead at the lower levels (1-20).

eg. I've sat in the Dunes for the past 4 days surveying the amount of people coming, the most I have seen are 12 people, half of whom were level 75's...

I know that when I used to play there were at least 70 people in the dunes all the time! I guess this is because it is one of the original servers and all the action is going on at end game now.

I'm wondering what the population on this server is like, if there is a good number of people at the low levels, any info on what the population is like would be greatly appreciated!

Me and my friends are looking for a younger server, with a abundance of low lever players in a good, friendly enviroment.

Thank you !! ^_^

All the servers are going to be pretty much the same.

A game that is six years old is going to have alot less people in a starter zone than it had when the game was young, i.e. when you played.

I understand what your saying Flix, as it does make sense.

But Kujata is dead. Absolutely dead at the lower levels, I understand that it'll take longer to get a party, but 4 days (Around 15 hours) and counting. That's ridiculous.

I'm just looking for a server with some people at least. ;)

Thanks for the input though. ^^

The game mechanics in essence have changed to the point where it's more beneficial to duo and trio at lower levels.

And 90% of everyone solo's to ~20. Try asking non-seekers to make a duo or trio. You're going to have a few days seeking almost everywhere.

You can pretty much solo to 20, maybe further depending on how you play. If you get a linkshell with a lot of people, then see if they want to static jobs 20 and higher. I have 3 jobs I static with, within my link shell.

According to FFXIAH.com (take this with a grain of rice) we have the 7th best economy. Fairy is somewhat of a crowded server, but I can't ever remember a World recoverly in the past 2 years+.

I recently have been leveling a lot of low level jobs, and even at the 1 am pst time I've been able to make groups.

What everyone else has said is very true. When/if you decide to endgame though Fairy is somewhat over crowded such as if you do the Land Kings (read as Fafnir) etc. From what a few friends on other servers I've talked to it doesn't seem like a huge swing either way.

Depending on what job you level could also play a role. IE you are leveling whm at level 12 with a rank 1 no subjob (And people are just xping with PLs). But from the sounds of it it doesn't really matter. Personally I'd go to wherever you have the most friends (B/c if you don't play this game to make friends and meet people you are playing the wrong MMO)

Fairy's endgame is pretty crowded. The other night I sat with 125 others in Aery hoping for a Nidhogg claim. Not exactly fun. Aspid camps can also be equally laggy with at least 70 people huddling into that safe corner near the spawn. KB's probably the least crowded of the litter, but it seems like then you get JP shells like FlyMe who rage the mob or even kite NQ Behe.

Overall, Sky isn't too bad if you don't try to cram in during the usual hot times like Friday/Saturday night. Though, we did have to sit at Kirin for 2 hours the other day as some new italian shell that had moved to the server was taking their first stab at it. How frequent things like that will be, I couldn't tell you specifically. I just know we tend to do 2 Kirins and TP burn each down in under 2 minutes.

Anyhoo, far as lowbie levels go, I'd strongly encourage getting WotG if you haven't already. You can level to 10 in the usual starter zones, but from there you can try to ninja your way to North Gustabeg [S] or find an escort. You can basically solo worms right outside of town until 14, more if you're okay with lesser EXP. Can start branching out to other things like Saplings or Vultures if you're with others.

If you're worried about subjob items, I don't mind snagging them for you. Just a matter of deciding Mhuara or Selbina. From there, I guess I'd kinda say you're on your own. Lower levels are a bit of a ghost town, but solo or low-man can still be effective.

I am interested in switching servers. Fairy is one of the few that I am interested in because its population is similar to my own if not slightly more. But I'd like to find out how active the server is during PST evenings, nights, and late-nights. For example, do many people run events during these times or do most of the LSs you are familiar with run their events during EST prime time? (Any events: Einherjar, Salvage, Bah V2, Ouryu, etc)

Any helpful advice is appreciated. Thanks.

When I first started playing on Fairy server in late 2004/early 2005, when I did /sea all I would usually get around 3,000 ppl at any given time. Last year, I can't remember when exactly, I recall that number dropped to about 2500 or a little less.

I myself have recently come back to Fairy after a 7 month FFXI hiatus, and I now find that when I do /sea all I get about 1500-1800 ppl at any given time. I have not played on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday yet, and I imagine those numbers will be somewhat higher.

I have heard a lot of other servers complain about the Dunes being well under populated. Two days ago I walked through the Dunes for old times sake and there were 74 ppl there, about 90% below lvl 19.

From what I can tell, a lot of people still play on many lvls in Fairy, though the overall server population is somewhat less than it was several years ago. I still see daily CoP and ToAU mission shouts, Assaults, ect. Overall I think the reduction in server population is not noticeable in terms of gameplay.

It is quite possible that the numbers are actually higher at other times, because I usually log in around mid day PST.

Could anybody elaborate on the Dynamis and HNM scene a bit? I recently found out that some servers (those which I am considering with Fairy) still have competition with entry time and have to either reschedule or delay their entry (specifically PST). I have had Limbus routes canceled or rescheduled because of the same reasons, but it isn't nearly as big of an issue as Dynamis (imo). Thanks!

How is conquest on Fairy? I'm coming back and I'm looking for a server with fairly balanced conquest. Where the race seems to go back and forth rather than being consistently dominated by one nation or another. What is Fairy's Conquest Race usually like?

Lately seems like Windurst is usually first, with Bastok and Sandy alternating. Ages ago, Sandy was the ******** and the other nations did their cellar swap. Bastok's never really been a force, and to be honest, I don't often see NA communication regarding conquest in shouts or forums.

Most servers are close in population. Odin is overpopulated (not a good thing at all) while I'd imagine a few are on the lower end of the spectrum. I'd reckon Fairy is on the upper 20% highest populated servers according to FFXIah and forums alone. It also seems to have a much larger North American/English speaking population since it came out around the time the NA client came out. Either way, I really enjoy the server so far and you should as well.
