Tillerson is out as Secretary of State. Dude got fired over the phone while he was in Africa. He was so qualified, too.

HA! It wasn't over the phone. He was fired over Twitter.

Also, any list ending with Tillerson is already out of date.

Wasn't Spicer fired over Twitter as well? I'm sure there have been others.

Hell of a way to run a railroad.

Oh, and Trump's "personal assistant" was fired because he couldn't get security clearance because he's under investigation for serious financial crimes of some ilk. That tells me Kelly was behind it, particularly since the guy was actually escorted out of the White House instead of fired by tweet when he was off the grounds.

All that said, it wouldn't surprise me if Kelly is out soon.

Oh, and McEntree? The guy who's under investigation for financial crimes?

He's been hired by the Trump 2020 campaign. Seems totes legit.

Edited to add: also, he's not under investigation by the police, or even the FBI.

No, he's under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security.

So what is it? Money laundering? Improper campaign contributions from a foreign power? I really don't know what other kinds of financial crime DHS would investigate. If it were RICO it would be under the aegis of the FBI, as far as I'm aware.

Isn't Pompeo one of those Christians who believes it's the end times, and his duty is to help bring about the apocalypse?

So that hearing should go swimmingly.

Also, hi Annabella!

Looks as though Lamb (D) will win the PA-18 special election in a squeaker once the absentee ballots are counted. Even if he lost by a hundred or two, which would suck, that's not a "good" result in a district that was R+20 for Trump and R+16 for Romney. Saccone was a weak campaigner but he wasn't banned from the mall for creeping on 14 year olds or anything to handwave away a 20 point deficit.

I don't know about twenty points, but recently if the last person on the seat resigns in scandal it tends to flip. Small sample size here I realize, but there was both Anthony Weiner and Eric Massa. So you could maybe make a case to handwave it because of Tim Murphy, the anti-abortionist that wanted his mistress to have an abortion.

Also aren't the Pennsylvania districts being redrawn? Hows that going to work?

The Pennsylvania districts are being redrawn but will be much more favorable to the Democrats since its undoing substantial GOP gerrymandering. They'll vote according to the new districts this November.

The loss of NY-9 didn't happen in a vacuum. It was during the ACA backlash and was viewed as a referendum on Obama and the Democrats. Exactly the same reason why it should have Republicans worried that Trump's campaigning for Saccone and their attempts to promote the new tax law failed to gain any traction in a deep red district. NY-29 had the same political climate but is much more of a swing district with Massa losing his previous race and winning his 2008 run by two points. In contrast, Democrats failed to even field a candidate in PA-18 the last two cycles and lost the district by 28 points the last time they did run one.

I'm not saying Murphy is the sole reason, just that you could probably assign a lot of the blame on his behavior.

Speaking of, what do you think of Maine's Leslie Gibson's chances of election after calling a school shooting survivor a frothing at the mouth moonrat slash skinhead lesbian?

You mean Weiner?

There's some instances of a seat flipping after a scandal. There's also plenty of instances of the seat remaining after a scandal: PA-2 stayed blue after Rep Fattah was convicted of fraud, IL-18 stayed red after Shock was forced to resign over ethics issues, NY-11 stayed red after Grimm's tax evasion conviction, FL-19 stayed red after Radel's cocaine conviction, IL-2 stayed blue after Jackson's ethics scandals and FBI investigation, etc. OR-1 stayed blue after Rep Wu resigned following reports of him making sexual advances on a teenage girl if you need a sex scandal related special election (a lot more people resign over ethics/fraud charges than sex-related ones).

I think a scandal can help make a bad situation worse or shake the needle a little but it's not the primary reason for a flip unless it was already a close swing district.

I've been assured everything is fine on the GOP side, and this is nothing but another example of widespread voter fraud by the Democrats. Imagine the stories about busloads of black illegal dead felons showing up will start any time now.

GOP people planning to demand a recount in PA-18 which seems... stupid.

The district is going away this year, it doesn't affect the balance in the House and just keeps this a story. Plus, they'll look doubly stupid when they lose.

What's the spread look like right now anyway?

Don't really get the point of requesting a recount if the margin is greater than what is needed for an automatic triggering of one. The vote totals never change more than a fraction of a percent, and the whole process just takes extra time and money.

Or they look super awesome heroic if they marginally win and the whole 20+ angle was always just fake news it was never that much even though it was the biggest victory ever for 45.
