Yes. Well after the fact though. After someone pointed it out to her that the reference to Planet of the Apes was equivalent to calling VJ an Ape.

They point which you seem to keep missing is that someone had to tell her that's what they got from the reference. Which suggests strongly that that was *not* her intent in the first place. She's responding to how others perceived her tweet.



Except everything we know about the chain of events suggests that she did intend the Planet of the Apes reference to be about VJ's ideology and the potential sort of dystopian outcome it might have. She clearly did not make that reference because "VJ looks like an ape", since she had no clue initially that that was how people interpreted her tweet. Her first response assumed they were criticizing her for associating VJ to the Muslim Brotherhood and calling that racist for some reason.

So we can say she was clueless about the association between "Ape" and "black woman". But that's the point. She couldn't have intended that meaning, since she clearly didn't get that meaning or association herself. We can say that this represents not being sensitive enough to the feeling of black people in terms of such associations, and that she should have been more aware of how others would interpret what she said. But what we can't say is that she wrote the tweet with a racist intent. Quite the opposite, in fact.

It's good enough to protect against a nuclear attack, so clearly it's a winner!

I think the more believable claim to make would be that Joph's partisan biases cause him to interpret the actions and statements of others as "blatantly racist". The "actually, you're the real racist" just reeks of grade school level deflection.

I suppose ignorance is more forgivable than knowing something is obviously racist but being more concerned about defending a partisan alignment than admitting to it. So I have that going for me!

The really bizarre thing about this is that any sane person defending Barr would just say "Oh, she had no idea that Jarrett was African-American so while it may have been tacky to compare her to an ape, it wasn't racist". That doesn't require trying to convince people that (despite Barr saying nothing supporting this) she really meant that Jarrett held ideologies from a 1960s science fiction movie about monkey-people and that she, uh, looks like the Muslim Brotherhood? But you're so invested in the fantasy that there's some top secret 2deep4liberals messaging going on here that only Gbaji can decipher that you'd rather keep running with that than go for the obvious defense that Barr set up.

If it really was just 614GB of data, then there probably wasn't anything more sensitive in it than what is written about it in the article itself. Probably a bunch of power point presentations or something.

You can't fit the designs for anything more complicated than a paper clip on less than 1TB of disk these days. Forget about actual technical data associated with said design.
