Imo, both were only mediocre SNL comedians.

Franken was a writer who was occasionally in sketches. Jackson was a pair of tits with cocaine on them who, by all appearances, had some sort of significant brain injury.

Marginally maybe, but Victoria and Dennis were still better than Jimmy Fallon.

Jimmy Falon & Horatio Sanz were awesome together, especially if Rachel Dratch was in the same sketch. Granted, they couldn't keep a straight face in their sketches, but them cracking up was usually funnier than the sketch they were in anyway.

Jimmy Falon

His name is "Talentless Jimmy Fallon" He didn't spend 15 years staring at himself int he mirror working on being obviously self aware for the camera for you to call him "Jimmy".

The only skit I can remember them together in was Cowbell, and they were basically just extras.

So with Stewart leaving, and his replacement having been announced, you'd think his replacement would have a much more active role in the shows. Yet I have not seen him at all.

I just think that they'd have him playing Correspondent, and getting a lot more face time with the audience. Unless the original announcements were wrong, and it isn't going to be this Trevor Noah. I haven't actually followed the news on it much.

John Oliver has already taken the Daily Show up a notch & he's doing it once a week.

I feel bad for Trevor Noah. He may be talented in his own right but Stewart isn't really topping Oliver's show lately.

Oliver's show is funny on occasion, but it has been pretty "meh" lately. For being a half hour with no commercials, it doesn't cover a lot. The last few episodes had been pretty boring.

I think the lack of correspondents hurts it.

It has been less funny, more preachy lately. Not awful, but not great.

Depending on who sticks around, the corespondents may not even help Trevor's new show.

Stewart has been very good lately, but Oliver has me laughing my balls off for a solid 30mins & my wife, who rarely enjoys the daily show, is actually engaged by Oliver & what he does on social media. I pretty much avoid social media as I am currently having to defend myself on Facebook from Vermonters I grew up with because I pointed out the banner they posted regarding mass produced produce being poison was inaccurate.

Oliver's problem is that his entire show is focused around one "outrageous" issue each week. Which is fine, but there really are a finite number of such things you can get through before he's yelling ********** you!" about the grittiness of sand at public beaches.

Send him to Scarborough Beach; as I recall that was just plain gravel.

Speaking of, I guess Fox News is still trying to... well, I'm not sure what a supposed news channel is doing when they keep trying to run comedy programs. Anyway, they have a new one called The Greg Gutfeld Show and it's been on for a month now but you probably haven't heard of it. Because by all accounts it's not very good.

It doesn't get better. I got about 20 minutes in and then skipped around the second half (the monologue is more joke loaded, such as it is and the later half is poor-man's-Stewart style interviews). Honestly, I had a hard time picking out what was supposed to be a "joke" and what was typical Republican ranting. Poe's Law at work or something.

Maybe it'd play better with a studio audience so you could hear some laughter or something. Or maybe it DOES have a studio audience Smiley: grin

He did do a panel discussion about that Duggar kid who molested his sisters and why some conservatives feel a need to frantically defend any other conservative against any sick-ass event just because they share some same policy opinions. That was... timely.

I only saw parts of the Megyn Kelly interview. I just remember lots of "oh, it wasn't as bad as that" style talk and them talking about how one of their family safeguards was how they don't hire male babysitters. Guess a PR stunt to distance themselves from that trainwreck is better than the softball they lobbed with that first interview.
