Sheik never struck me as cross dressing. Hiding, mysterious maybe. But masculine? Maybe in the sense that she wasn't wearing a dress, and wasn't helpless... same sense as many other Zelda outfits since. Even as a kid when I first got my N64 I don't recall that. Maybe the existence of the Gerudo in the same game and their muscular thin women offset any apparent cross dressing.
As for Mario and Italian... people wouldn't be "threatened" these days even if they hadn't already "come out" as Italian because no one cares about Italians and Irish anymore. They are just White.
Minority leads and gender ambiguity in media get the right in a tizzy these days.
Almost as much as when they make a Resident Evil game trailer that shows someone shooting black zombies? Or when a White actor gets slated to play Michael Jackson? Or a woman gets listed to play a trans-woman? Or a les
bian gets announced to play gay batgirl? Oh wait... that was the left outrage. Edited, Aug 28th 2018 9:42pm by TirithRR
