It's not really fair to include 4 deaths by heart attack while shoveling and snow blowing as deaths because of the storm.

But you don't understand! See, they have roads that get slippery when it snows a quarter inch! It's unlike anything you've ever experienced!

WTF do you even shovel when you have five feet of snow out there? Stay inside and play some Dragon Age: Inquisition...

Well, assuming the power stays on...

Maybe they had to shovel the path to their generator? And make it past the velociraptors.

We must split up into two teams: Team A, and Team B. Team A will consist of myself, Stan, Kyle, Eric, Chef, and Nurse Goodly. Team B will consist of Kenny. Now, listen closely, Team B. Your goal will be to turn on the backup generator. To do this you must brave the storm outside and get into this sewage duct. Meanwhile, Team A will go to the holding area, here where there is a television, and some cocoa. We will drink the cocoa and watch family programming until Team B makes it through the sewage duct. By that time, Team B- remember, that's you, Kenny- should reach the outer core of the generator. It will be a cold and dangerous climb to the top, and there could be velociraptors- here. Once you reach the top, you should be able to get a clear view from this windows of us drinking cocoa and watching television. Then, you could proceed down into the generator, and power it on. Are there any questions?

Yeah, if I saw that wall of snow blowing toward me I'd be... well, screwed, since I don't keep that much food in the house. But assuming I did, I'd hunker down and wait for spring.

Twas 36 here in New Orleans yesterday evening, today it's back up to 60. I don't mind the cold (if you can call it that), but I hate the seesaw we get from mid 30s to upper 50s and back again every couple of days. I'm never sure whether I can go outsidein shorts and a T-shirt, or if I need to get my "heavy" coat out.

Oh, and as for the "hot top" thing, we called it blacktop down here when I was a kid, although I haven't really heard the term much lately.

I used to think that the two and half feet we got a few years ago was bad. I don't even what to think about trying to deal with that mess up in Buffalo. Apparently, it was a fairly narrow area that was affected though. I was talking to guy that handles sales reps at work today. One of the reps he deals with frequently is from the Buffalo area. On one side of town they only got a light dusting, on the other, it was the five feet.

That's usually the way Lake Effect works.

I think either last year or the year before I posted a picture of West Michigan that I had driven through (it hit kind of suddenly). And that image is pretty much the same every year.

Note: That image may not be the exact one, but it's basically the same thing each year so who cares.

They're expecting another three feet of snow today. Probably going to wish for a plane full of Uruguayan rugby players.

That's why the smart people live on the west side of the Lake.

People exist west of the lake. I wouldn't necessarily call it living.

I live right on the Lake so the Lake Effect snow usually passes us over. Not enough time for the wet air to freeze and dump. A mile inland and they get buried.

For me, there is no weather more miserable than upper 30s or low 40s with rain. Granted, I've never seen more than an inch of accumulated snow, so...
