I would sell Samira for 2.5 billion. Not just dollars, I'd probably sell her for 2.5 billion anythings.

2.5 billion fire ants? Because I think we can make that happen.

It might take a few days to find a buyer with that many. But I think I could do it.

Pet rocks exemplified the concept of a fad. They were kitschy and fun and a signifier that you were hip to the new trends. Once the novelty has worn off, the fad ends and everyone is slightly embarrassed and yet primed for the next fad. Hula-hoops, Tickle Me Elmo, banana flavored gum, whatever.

Minecraft is an interactive game. It hits certain creative/OCD receptors that other games hit, and it keeps rewarding you by continuing to hit those receptors. It is obviously going to have more staying power than a three-to-six-month fad phenomenon.

As for selling it, hell, I'd sell my first born for 2.5 billion.

It's basically legos. But built by someone who understands the internets.

Legos are a fad. There's nothing innovative about plastic blocks that fasten together. Once that initial novelty wears off, they'll be worthless.

Nooooo! guess I shouldn't have been so happy about being the sibling who inherited the bin of our childhood Legos from the 60's . Sadly none of the windows that were one brick high and had curtains survived. I used Lego to build houses just like my dad designed. I can't do that now with the windows they sell in the sets I got for my daughters. I do have some of the first rail road ties from the set my parents got us for Christmas one year.

2 things we knew would be under the Xmas tree was books and Legos.

PS the daughters will have to fight for all the Legos, I've saved from their childhood after I die.

If only LEGOs were worthless, have you seen the prices on their sets? It's like they're making them out of gold and diamonds or something.

United States (Balti-moran, born and raised)

So that's you, me, Elne, and Jowin. I think we're the majority party on this forum.

While Jonwin is Balti-moran born and raised, my family is originally from Chicago and didn't move here until I was a Senior in HS. I resisted living here for another 11 years (months I had to live with parents during college don't count.)

Before I moved in with Jonwin I never had lived any place for more then 5 years.

BTW though I'm not a Trekie, being a member of SF fandom, Jonwin and I can spend hours arguing about the merits of Picard over Kirk.

If I was working the bridge of the Enterprise, I rather be working with Kirk than Picard.

Also, Shatner is way more entertaining than Patrick Stewart.

They're not that expensive when you consider the longevity of the blocks. And those Star Wars sets will be in demand for many years to come, because Episode 7-9.

The novelty is already wearing off, it seems. Some people are resorting to using non-block peripherals to spice up their Lego time.
