On second thought the word 'trick' is too goofy for me to use, even ironically.

You are still a prostitute, though.

Why is it tricky? Don't try to fix her - just invite her to do active stuff with you. Maybe not a marathon, right away, but a hike or working out or some such.

Tried that; didn't work. Admittedly, mostly because I am lazy.

My wifefellow and I can't work out together all too effectively. She doesn't have the stamina to keep up with my runs and I don't have the martial arts prowess to keep my face from bloodying up the mats.

I remember the last time I tried to gently suggest getting back on an exercise regimen (and not snacking on chocolates), and she said "what's the point?".

I imagine you hear that a great deal after speaking to someone. As for your 'friend', who instead of working out, literally eats bon bons, you should tell her... nope. Nope. Sorry, I thought I could play along and pretend this was a real person but I can't.

To make a long story short, I don't take any responsibility for anything I post here. It's not news, it's not truth, it's not serious. It's parody. It's satire. It's bitter. It's angsty. Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

It's tricky because it's obviously an issue she's aware of, but avoids in conversation. And it's not like this is someone who lives next door (or even particularly nearby), so scheduling any sort of regular activity would be difficult. I mentioned it because it ties into the idea that because of the backlash against unreasonable weight/figure expectations by men towards women, bringing up this kind of thing becomes trickier because we run the risk of it being taken in that context. And it's not exactly the easiest subject to bring up to begin with.

It's easy to bring up. Just depends on whether their feelings towards you or their health is more important.

Learn how to not call a chick fat on facebook, then? I mean really, wtf did you expect to happen?

I didn't call her fat. You assume I did, because somewhere along the line, you got a case of the feminism, too. She called herself fat (indirectly, admittedly), but the second I gave some suggestions to overcome her weight problem, I was the *******. It's not like I just burst out laughing at her, pointing fingers and telling her to eat less, because she was a fatso. I'm not a complete *******, believe it or not.

I know that weight and women is a touchy subject, but if you call out for attention, you should be prepared to receive it.

Perhaps it's my upbringing, 3 sisters going through puberty while my mother went through menopause all around the same time, but when dealing with females & their weight the only thing you can do & not get your **** chopped off for it is support them. Suggesting ways to lose weight, even if she brought it up, is calling her fat in girl speak.

It has nothing to do with me being a "feminist", although I'm for equal rights for lady folks, & more to do with the fact that the women in my life have always been sensitive to their weight. I learned early on when dating my wife that suggesting "she eat less calories than she burns off" when complaining about her weight was a good way to get my **** chopped off.

Its not your fault that you don't understand that giving suggestions to overcome her weight problem is the same as calling her fat, but it essentially is in girl speak, especially when done publicly on facebook where EVERYONE takes what anyone else says in the worst possible way.

So I guess if all you meant is that you didn't say the word fat, a hollow victory is yours?

I've refrained from posting happenings because I don't think anyone cares, but I had to share this one. The cynical part of me thinks that the EiC of Gameranx is simply seeing where the wind blows and is trying to repair relations for monetary reasons. But there's another part of me that recalls the parable of the prodigal son and is willing to accept his apology and rejoice in believing that one who had lost his way is now returned home.

And I don't think gamers lose anything by being willing to forgive. An oft repeated motto of Gamergate is "Trust but Verify". I'm willing to give him a chance. He doesn't have to completely flip and go pro-GG. But if he could maybe just be an ethical reporter and not be an ******* to gamers, that'd be swell.

And since I'm sure you have no idea what I'm talking about, here's a video by Sargon in which he discusses Ian Miles Cheong's apology, and here's said apology itself.

Considering the last few months pretty much anything and everything has been one thing or another, I think I'm at that point where I'm desensitized to the whole thing. Unless it's straight up blunt two by four to the face I find myself not even thinking about it anymore.

I don't even know what Poldaran's talking about. I no longer regard his Gamergate-ism as an actual stance on an issue but rather as an obscure hobby that's a bit weird to anyone not involved in it, like train watching or beastiality.

That's actually (at least one member of) Anti-GG. I'm not even joking.

Edit: Okay, Xsarus. For you. Denis Dyack did an interview. Niche Gamer split it into two parts.

If anyone's bored, it looks like it's an opportune time to ping pong triple K's karma between green and red for half a day to amuse yourself. If that's the kind of thing that amuses you.

Edit: I have only the word of one pro-GG dev so take it with a grain of salt, but it seems Homeland Security is helping GG meetups to interface with local police in light of the bomb threat on GGinDC earlier this month.
