I wish everyone in Gamergate would die so I don't have to hear about it anymore.

I am flat broke.

I could send you sexually suggestive pictures of Varrus if you like.

That'd be at odds with twelve years of forum tradition.

Ah, the final days of a crumbling regime where corruption runs rampant. Next, Xsarus will be selling us warehouses full of AK-47s.

Yes, that's how the internet works. If everyone in that organization dropped dead, I'm sure people would just not talk about it anymore.

I don't know how much I believe it, but if he is, he's going to find it one **** of a grind trying to focus on destroying the "leaders of Gamergate".

Not that hard to do, considering who inspired it & why he did so. From outside the movement, it really doesn't seem like its managed to escape its origins of misogyny & /butthurtedness. In fact, the attention they were trying to seek is probably whats killing it. You wanted mainstream media attention? You got it & all that comes with it. Enjoy the fruits of your labor: Gamergate is now so toxic no one except the delusional seems to want to touch it.

Thunderf00t goes off on Colbert's different treatment of Sarkeesian vs. Palin. Edit: He's spent a lot of time talking about Sarkeesian's videos, so I'm not surprised that he's focusing on her. And before anyone says "See, Pold's focusing on womyns again!", she was talking about Gamergate in the interview, so I consider it fair game. EditMoar: Someone's claiming the interview was heavily edited before release. Don't know how much I believe it, but it's relevant enough to post.

I can get behind the sentiment at the end of this one. Most of the last paragraph or two, really, but especially the last line or so.
Quote:
Too many in the press believe in this idea of "us vs. them"--us being "developers and press," them being "gamers"--which is exactly what leads to this idea of Video Game Journalism as one big bubble where the press serve themselves and their buddies instead of normal people who play video games. If we want better journalism in gaming--and who doesn't want better journalism in gaming?--that's gotta change. We need to listen. **** the Internet War. Let's all just do our jobs better.

Here's another good one.

I like the cut of this guy's jib thus far.

EditEleventysix: Someone's made an autoblocker list of GG supporters. I find it hilarious that davidpakmanshow, a TYT affiliated news program that has been quite neutral, is on the list. And I'm not the only one surprised by that. What's strange is that I couldn't find TB on it. Surely if David Pakman is there, TB would make the cut, no? ~15,000 names.

Editedforyourenjoyment: Even if you don't read the whole thing, You really ought to read the last post.

AllyourEditsbelongtous: Another anti-GG person, Arthur Chu, goes onto the David Pakman Show. Really hates AAA games. Here's Allistair Pinsof's discussion of the interview. Additionally, TB has already addressed why there was little reaction to the Shadows of Mordor debacle, which I've already linked. Edit: Here's some things I didn't link earlier regarding the SoM debacle. 1. 2.

YouhavenochancetoEditmakeyourtime: More on the Nick Denton "astroturfing" thing. I honestly have no idea whether I believe it or not. At this point, it wouldn't surprise me, but at the same time it's completely insane. On the other hand, it seems like insane has become the new normal. Edit: Moments after writing that last sentence, I ran across this. Huh.

Edit: Smiley: facepalm Edit: Again, TB doesn't exist, apparently. Smiley: laugh

Also, this has nothing to do with anything, but it wasn't worth its own thread and there's no other thread I can think to put it in: Missed one of your favorite cruelty devices in Sims 4? It's coming back.

I have when it was a single link in a post. When it's a post made up of nothing but links, I'm out.

Honestly, as long as you read what I wrote, the links are generally unnecessary. There are a few where I can't really post full stories without making this look Gbaji-esque, but mostly they're just there if what I wrote interests you further or so I don't have to go dig them up later if someone says I'm not citing my sources.

That said, you should really click the facepalm smiley. I found it fairly amusing.

The whole issue is far too divisive. The goal of those of the movement seems to be to strengthen and lengthen the divide by keeping the whole mess going, rather than letting the animosity blow over and getting back to a point where Anita can just make her silly video's and we can all laugh at them.

#gamergate should get Rush to take on their cause. Creating imaginary social wars is his expertise. .

Well, since this is all things feminist thread...

I didn't want to start a separate thread for it, but it seems oddly similar in terms of the sentiment and issues created. For the record, I really do think we need a new name for the feminazis as I do not think they represent feminism. Hell, if reg.feminism asks for equality, then I am feminist. Neo-feminists seem to want something else altogether.

This article shows another class of misogynistic bastards that constitute the IT crowd and the uphill battle for equality in that area by the ever-oppressed.

It is not completely unrelated, gamers and IT crowd has some overlap.
