Sort of an update, because this thing seems to be still going on. Intel decided to ( ah-ha ) pull out from gamasutra . I am personally glad, because I don't see a reason for gs to get more gil after the piece they put there.

I didn't really care about the story up until now. And still only kinda. Today I saw the copy pasta "they" use to spread this unholy filth and realized that this is not just some random justice warrior that could safely be ignored. It is a semi-organized campaign.. and they are using github for it.

It made me feel dirty and stupid at the same time. How do you fight that kind of insanity? You sure as hell can't ignore it.

It's amusing how much this thing took on a life of it's own. You wonder if anyone will ever care about what happened initially other than a footnote. Like WWI started with some guy assassinating some guy. Nobody cared after 2 months, and they all got busy launching poison gas at each other. Same here, it'll be "that one girl got death threats and then...".

Got to admit I never appreciated how much unhappy was simmering under the lid.

I found it interesting that one of the articles linked a few posts back made a point of talking about the possible use of sockpuppets by the gaming community to attack the SJWs, but earlier accepted at face value the "facts" about the threats she received on twitter. I honestly have no clue who's right or wrong (or if there even is such a thing in this case), but it's always amusing to see this sort of obvious mental disconnect going on.

It is kinda like the mini revolution in Ukraine... after the protesters survived ridicule, beatings and snipers, it is ok to acknowledge them and their issues... whatever they may be. They kinda earned it.

In this case, the issue has been kept alive for over a month. I think that was longer than the Malysian flight thing.

There are a number of things linked in this very thread that show why Gamergate or something like it is necessary. If not for massive breaches within the games themselves, regarding a number of smaller issues. And let's be honest, this is as much about the "Doritos Pope" style of journalistic corruption as it is about ideologues and shills like Sarkeesian. Additionally, there are a number of instances where those fighting for #GamerGate have struck large blows against said corruption. You think Gamasutra isn't going to have to rethink its position if Intel continues to withhold advertising on their site? And Kotaku and Rock, Paper, Shotgun may have their own issue if Nvidia pulls advertising from them as rumors are suggesting might soon happen.

So go ahead and continue snarking if you want. I'll keep doing my thing, too.
