I like the Kubotas. I'd like to get a mini excavator, but it would really be affectation for our 1/3rd of an acre yard.

I think there is a mini excavator attachment for the rear PTO, but while it might be fun to use for a bit, I don't think I'd have enough use for it to justify the purchase. Maybe if I ever got into using my Electrician's License to do some real work on the side, it would be handy for digging trenches.

I am definitely going to get the snow blower attachment, but that is about 3500 and I couldn't justify it at the moment. Maybe next year.

In about 42 hours I will be back home and one of the first things I am going to do is hop in that and start poking around the big sand piles in my yard.

Well damn it, all I bought was a Samsung Galaxy S 5. Sure, it's an awesome phone and a hell of an upgrade over my old Droid 2, but I can't bury anything with it. Actually, there might be an app for that, I'll have to look...

Naw think big, I bet the neighbors' house could be in pieces before they get home from work.

Both of my closest neighbors' houses are already falling apart. Literally. My neighbor to the east had a quarter of their house collapse a few years back, and never really fixed it. The neighbor to the west has almost a third of their roof flattened. I don't even know how the thing stands, the inside must be a wreck.

Hey I can see my house from there! And it's on three acres of hilly, forested land, so I could really use some of these toys. All I got is a chainsaw and some various axes.

I'm trying to figure out what you have going on back there. What you wrote seems like an area with weed fabric, mulch over that and sod over that which is nonsensical. So I'm assuming I just read it wrong. Is it 50% sod, 50% mulch over fabric with plants growing through or something?

Weed fabric is crap. No one should use it. It's a maintenance headache and doesn't even especially work since the weed seeds germinate in the mulch and just push their young roots through the weave in the fabric. Or you use plastic sheeting and cook the soil underneath while blocking any moisture from moving in or out..

Something like that, yeah. No clue what the previous owners were thinking.

Quote:

Nope. It actually appears to be like one layer on top of another layer. Like the previous owner decided they didn't like what was there and instead of tearing it out and replacing it, just dropped a new layer of crap right on top and then seeded it.

Quote:

They used plastic sheeting. But underneath that is a completely separate layer of stuff, including what looks like paved walking stones. Like they just rolled the sheet on top of what was there and dumped a layer of bark/soil/whatever on top of that, and then planted stuff on/through that. Yeah. Imagine my surprise. I was just trying to pull a couple errant plants from alongside the wall and realized the whole thing was like one solid layer of roots that pulled up in a solid sheet suspiciously easily (well, the one corner I was pulling on anyway, the whole mass is pretty heavy I assume). At the time I was just trying to clear the extra growth that was pushing out in front of the front door so as to make it easier for the guys doing work inside the house to get in and out, so I didn't investigate any further.

Listen, this is serious. Last time Google shut ads down the site lost 1/9th of a months revenue. That's *dozens* of dollars.
