Why do you think that the US so badly wants Assad out of Syria

We don't, you fucking moron, hence the blanket support of him in exchange for pantomiming chemical weapon surrenders.

To make a long story short, I don't take any responsibility for anything I post here. It's not news, it's not truth, it's not serious. It's parody. It's satire. It's bitter. It's angsty. Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

Well, sort of. We prefer a controlled chaos in the Mideast (And Africa), so we set up fragile tribal secular states. It's much better for US&MN resource extraction interests.

Now, I may be just a simple man, and these tangled webs of alliances and loyalties go far above my head, but don't it just beat all watching you guys discuss it.

Seriously, I have no idea what the **** is going on over there anymore and don't bother trying to follow it, except that we spend an awfully large amount of time propping people up then taking them down and repeat. Oh, and yes, oil.

Essentially no matter what happens, we're wrong for doing it. There's really no reason to take anyone's opinion on the matter serious.

As I saw it put lately:
ISIS = attacking Kurds.
ISIS = attacking Shia / Maliki.
Maliki / Shia = sending trends to Kurds.
Maliki / Shia = run away from Assad.
Al Nusra = Fighting Assad
Al Nusra = Fighting Kurdish YPG Forces
Al Nusra = Fighting FSA
ISIS = Fighting Al Nusra
ISIS = Fighting Assad
ISIS = Figting Al-Nusra (used to)
ISIS & Al-Nusra = United + Fight FSA
FSA = Fighting Assad
Assad = Fighting FSA
Assad = Fighting ISIS
Assad = Supporting ISIS to fight the Kurds
Assad = Fighting the Kurds
FSA & Al-Nusra = Working together to fight the Kurds

Smiley: nod

I know you actually want the full run downSmiley: wink so basically ISIS is this recent coagulation of Muslims that have been being drawn to Syria since they had a great excuse to do so (Syrian uprising).

You see, these Muslims believe that their "messiah" can be drawn into coming by 2 things.. the upheaval of the world.. and a holy religious fundamentalist Islamic State..
ISIS calls themselves the early stages of that State.

Now recently a lot of Muslim countries have suddenly had their more secular rulers (guys wearing suit/tie rather than a robe) overthrown by people that want to stop being oppressed religiously... meaning they want the religious freedom to force other people to do exactly what the Koran says.... so what you have heard of as the "Arab Spring" essentially became an instance of Muslim countries coming to have toppled secular rulers. Usually when the secular ruler is overthrown (for being a dictator) the power vacuum is filled with the religious factions like the Muslim Brotherhood and their military wings...

So a part of the belief is that Syria will be the site of some great war.. so this is why people are becoming more hard-core religious Islam jihadists and flocking to Syria en masse from all over the world. Through this war and the establishment of their great Islamic state they will usher in the Muslim messiah.. the Mahdi.
Then he's supposed to rule for 7 years and make great peace with the nations (or something).
Incidentally the Bible tells a similar story only after 3.5 years he tries to slaughter all the Jews..
anyway
In Syria you have the "Rebels(FSA)" that really are trying to overthrow Assad.. however now the real warlords have arrived and are taking their business to Biblical proportions.. so much in fact that ISIS is at odds with most other Muslim factions.. even those that claim to speak for Al Qaida.

It's pretty much the modern day Islamic Crusade. They aren't staying in Iraq and they are staying in Syria. They are heading straight to the Mediterranean and Jerusalem.

Smiley: twocents

Now I'm not going to try to delve into what started this or what would have started it or who is providing support and funding for whom.. Needless to say that we're going to move the chess pieces where we may..

If we wanted instability in the region.. I'd say we got it in a big way.. until when it stabilizes it will likely have the power to destabilize the civilized world.

This thread got me to go back and watch some more Archer. Fantastic.

And now the producers of Archer and FX decided to drop the ISIS name for the new season.
Quote:
It seems, on the surface, like a throwaway shot. During the premiere episode of the sixth season of Archer, FX’s outrageously funny animated spy series, spy matriarch Malory Archer (Jessica Walter) is seen speaking on the phone with her juvenile, coddled son. In the background, you can see two movers rolling out a large, circular blue ISIS sign.

You see, for the past five seasons, ISIS (International Secret Intelligence Service) has been the name for the underground, non-government approved, New York City-based spy organization at the heart of the show. In light of recent events, however, the creative team behind the Emmy nominated series—creator Adam Reed along with executive producers Matt Thompson and Casey Willis—made a decision to quietly eliminate the acronym from their show.

“We quietly did,” Reed told The Daily Beast. “We were waiting for it to go away—at least I was. Back in Season 5, FX said, ‘This might be a thing,’ and I thought, ‘Maybe it won’t be? Maybe it’ll be the mole that I’m gonna ignore and nothing will happen.’
[...]
He adds, “I was at a meeting with the FX execs and I said, ‘You know, with all this extra ISIS merchandise, you should just make the bad guys buy it.’ Dead silence. And then they said, ‘We have a lot of ISIS merchandise.’ So I guess that’s all going to a landfill somewhere.”

Heh, I think you are misusing that word. I haven't changed my position at all, and never will. I have not once made a remark complaining that the EU didn't go all in with the US on their initial sanctions, as it would be economically retarded if they did.

Well, they would be retarded if they did, long term that is. It is not a secret that business ties are strong and that both France and Germany are benefiting from Russia being Russia. I would like to think, however, that at least some of the EU retards currently in position of power recognize that the truce is not there for a long haul. That in three to four years Russia will discover that it has to protect Russian populace in Latvia, Czech and Poland ( cuz even the current pro-Russian regime has to officially dislike them now due to elections and popular sentiment ). That Putin is hardly a ****** he is being portrayed as. That he plays a long game.. and, piece by piece, EU might become his own.
